Surprisingly, not really so far this year.

This might be Eichel’s worst 5 on 5 year besides his rookie year so far.

He misses Pominville

- sbroads24

He is tied for fifth in the league in scoring. He was on pace for more than 120 points this season before last game.

Honestly I am not trying to continually come after what you say. It’s just that you are so blatantly wrong so often.

he should have about 3 or 4 more 5v5 goals but he keeps trying to make the extra pass

He was talking about 5-on-5 scoring. The powerplay has carried this team more often than not. That needs to improve.

Curious how they handle the D pairings. I would definitely give Gilmour the start because he's been with the team the whole time and hasn't had a shot yet. It does make sense to start Borgen because of the lefty/righty situation and their style of play.
If Gilmour does get a shot, would it make sense to play him with Risto and slide McCabe with Joker?
I'm guessing it's Borgen, because it's only one game on the road and they could have just rolled with what they have.

I have actually liked sams speed this year. No one will ever be as fast as Eichel. Skinner isn’t even

I still think Sam is too slow for Eichel. He’s got great hockey sense but lacks the transition and breakaway speed. I feel keeping him with Eichel is holding Eichel back. There is not a better option this year but if we are going to be a deep playoff team this needs to be addressed

I agree with this. Both Olofsson and Sam can’t keep up.

There's very few people in the league that can keep up with Eichel. He has to play with someone. Him and Sam have chemistry. They're finding success at home, but not on the road. Just have to figure out a way to break through when they're not getting a favorable line matchup on the road.

Life is good when your struggling rookie winger only has 9 points in 11 games

I understand only one of those points actually counts, but still

Sam has gotten faster this year, I’d say he’s a slightly above average skater. Skinner is really our only other forward that could remotely play at Eichel’s pace.

It's not a big deal, but it was 2 points that we let get away. Next month the schedule is tough, and we will have to fight for every point we get. There were a lot of winnable games this month

Go beat Detroit, and it's really not a big deal, but if we get 0/4 points in these two games, I think worry will be justified.

i actually think hes making the best kind of mistakes too, not like he cant make a pass or forces bad plays all the time

he just makes stupid blunders like totally losing control of the puck somehow. mechanical (frank)ups and not poor hockey decisionmaking

- robz228

good point...that's why i'm not worried about him and, conversely, it's also why I like him where he is on the depth chart right now...

one thing I will say is that he still hasn't fully grasped how quick nhl players are to the puck and how quick they are with their sticks...he needs to be a little harder on the puck

How about:

Skinner Eichel Sheary
Oloffson MoJo Reinhart
Sobotka Mittelstadt Vesey
GLO Line

Put the three fastest guys together.

Personal observations from last night:

Defense are playing slower with the puck in the defensive zone. First few games, they made a couple quick passes and were back out of the zone. Now they a facing a tougher forecheck and appear to be trying to make the perfect exit, making several more passes, slow and methodical almost like you would start from your end on the PP.

Dahlin spent more time on the ice trying to block passes last night, unsuccessfully I might add, then I've seen at any time in his career.

Forecheck seemed unenthusiastic except for Larsson line.

Whatever happened to "take away the pass" on the 2 on 1 and leave the shooter to the goalie.

Wingers were losing the Dman in the defensive zone way too much. Subotka went for a nice little neutral zone coast on goal 4 or 5 before realizing that was his man that was pinching down, wide open.

Loved the attacking mentality we had first few games but its more just in bursts now.

You are right, let me try to be more like a hockeybuzz poster.

Wins mean we are good! Losses mean nothing except that we get the chance to win next time! Two losses in a row is just a chance to practice our faith in Krueger! The only players we should ever criticize are the ones that we traded away!

(except Eichel and Dahlin, rip on those poor bastards as much as you please).
