Cheese call on the game winner. Those r let go CONSISTENTLY
- taleisyreXIII

I’ve seen them let it go when a guy slides it across the ice a short way but never if it’s tossed.

Well at least the points we banked early afforded us this skid. Can't continue for much longer, though. Especially when guys start coming back.

At least we can argue about potential lines tomorrow then.

I didn't think there was conclusive evidence to overturn it. Hell of an effort and one that should have gotten a point at least but with dumb and dumber as a D pairing it wasn't meant to be.

I thought the same thing, the thing that confused me is that they didnt say it was inconclusive they flat out said it didnt cross the line so Im wondering what video they had access to that clearly showed the puck not enter the net.

I always get confused by the wording when they announce stuff like that.

That was the most boring 90 shot game I’ve ever watched.

Wasnt even talking a out zars call..that wasnt the game winner penalty. Having said that..I've seen players have two sticks and go for a skate and grab a goalies stick to bring it back..slide sticks..push sticks..."accidently" toss sticks for no calls...but ya Zars was kinda obvi. The issue is the jake call...while it sure is a penalty...I can point to that play in similar fashion EVERY game not being called...just last night sid was the interfered in a similar fashion...I believe he was back checking and the offensive player took him out and he went full on into the boards. (I kinda forget the play a bit) but it's an example of interfering with a player without the puck on a rush...whether playing defense or offense it matters not...a penalty is a penalty. It's the most annoying part of the nhl...all sports even..and every fan agrees. Officials are often extremely inconsistent esp from one to another. But there are clear discrepancies that ought to be looked into. When wes ..and we all know wes...calls games for pitt...its never good. When dean Morton calls games for the pens...its never good(last night) when tim peal..or peel I forget cuz I hardly care....calls games..its hardly good. These are serious problems that never seem to be addressed because officials are never held accountable like coaches and players are.

Hard to complain about the effort again last night. Playing the second of a B2B against a determined team, you have to accept the result and move on. Jarry played a great game, it's going to be a shame to lose him to Seattle.

Now, to our two favorite players, Simon had a good game. Which is to say he didn't suck, yes he made a nice play on the Crosby goal. I know everyone acted like he was the only guy in the world who could have made that play but it is simply not true, so be it. Other than that he was okay, he made the easy plays when he had time. When pressured he just advanced the puck. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. Remember it was him that turned the puck over when he just threw the puck into the zone that led to the Guentzel penalty.

Johnson also played an okay game, again he did not suck. He is going to get vilified on that Paquette goal but the blame goes to Riikola for not covering McDonough. In basketball we were taught to always be between the man and the basket. I am sure the exact same principle is applied to hockey.

The play of the game has to go to Tanev. Wow, just wow.

How is Lafferty always open. He is impressive. No goals last night but he played well. He deserves a look with Malkin or Crosby at some point this season.

Simon is solely responsible for anything good that happens to Sidney Crosby’s line. Personally, I think if he wasn’t attempting to dive that pass wouldn’t have looked like such a big deal. And never mind the fact that Eric Godard would have more goals spending that amount of time on the first line.

I would like to thank NBCSN for giving us Brian Boucher. He is a welcome change to the team. More importantly he is an asset to the announcing crew.

I'm going to pat myself on the back and say I always said Jarry was capable. EVERYONE was trashing him before the season started and now everyone is licking has bumhole.
- Rinosaur

I wanted to see Jarry ahead of DeSmith and thought it was a matter of getting an extended look.

People will be all over me but if Murray don't re-sign for less than $6M I'd rather say goodbye and spend the money elsewhere. Jarry/DeSmith would do the trick for me.

I know you were there in person, but really?

I thought it was great on the screen. Good pace.

Agreed. I thought the pace was good, and it was quite a rough-and-tumble game for so early in the season. I was happily entertained throughout, that is until the refs gave the game to TB at the end.
