They're both good. DeSmith was beyond good last year. The Pens have two good options which really gives them options.
Oh, and from the earlier convo, DeSmith didn't sniff NHL ice until he was 26. - Rinosaur
Jarry might have starter potential. DeSmith is a decent backup, but we'd be in a world of hurt if Murray goes down long term.
Wow.....great goal!!! |

That was a nice pass by Simon. First extraordinary play he’s made in 45 games with Sid. |

DeSmith was top ten in both goalie categories last year. Jarry was good last year, but DeSmith just looked much better.
I don't know that Jarry has starter potential, but he definitely should be a very good backup. |

You're watching the Sixers game over Pens vs Bolts?
Good pace to these games usually . - MattStrat
It’s the season tip off and a big rivalry game against the Celtics. Gotta prioritize games when you’re trying to follow 5 or so teams about equally closely. Luckily both are televised tonight so I’m flipping back and forth. |

I’m fairly certain that was a frat pass while diving. After watching it again. |

I'm going to pat myself on the back and say I always said Jarry was capable. EVERYONE was trashing him before the season started and now everyone is licking has bumhole. |
|

Simon draws the penalty but makes a sweet pass over to Sid on that goal. I’ve been critical of Simon moreso than last season but he continues to make smart plays |

I also thought of this earlier at random for some reason
Everyone: Hockey is for everyone!
Grinder: Except Simon.. he should be hit by a car |

Not harping here just asking for seriousness: weren’t you also one of the guys dangling him as a chip in trade proposals or no? I was actually just about to comment on that in a separate post. Didn’t make sense to trade him imo |

Dude, I remember a few convos this off-season where everyone was saying he's basically a bust not good enough to be a back-up. |

I'm not taking anything away from DeSmith, but I don't think Jarry clears. Nobody wanted DeSmith. Great asset management from GMJR and it's paying off.
Things I've noticed over the last few years of limited viewing of Jarry. Got a good glove and he's a really good puck handler. |

Dangling someone as a trade chip doesn't necessarily mean you don't like the player. DeSmith was extended, so it seemed inevitable Jarry would be moved. It was only poor roster management by JR that led to DeSmith having to be sent down and Jarry getting a shot. |

Never trashed him either, but I thought they were definitely going to trade him after they gave DeSmith his contract. |
