I noticed that in 31 thoughts and immediately thought of JB and the JTM trade.

I thought of about 5 JB trades

ohhh so this is how trades like Rask for Nino happen

(I know Guerin didn’t make that trade)

- Nucker101

That on paper for career stats is closer than most think. At the time the stats were not close. It was just not a very good trade. Slap in a 3rd round pick probably would have evened it up pretty good.

It’s weird how some of our fans are uncomfortable with having legit depth
- Nucker101

I'm not, depth is great. I just don't like playing guys that are NHL players in the AHL. If we were sending Schaller or Motte down so that Gaudette or Baertschi could play, I would be 100% okay with it.

Also, Loui Eriksson is not depth

That’s why using career stats is stupid. No context. Both the eye test and analytics showed it was a dumb trade. Canes fans thought Rask was a cap dump that they’d have to attach a draft pick with to get rid of.

Why not? Keep them there until you need a roster shakeup, have injuries or get a decent offer to move them. JB should be in no rush to make a trade.

And Green likes those 2 because they PK, AG and Sven cannot.

I have heard over and over on SN how much Green likes Motte and Schaller.

Comets are doing good and Canucks are doing good so I don't know how much call up action we will see without injury.

I doubt AG joining the Comets would hurt them though, LE might since he'd probably suck the life out of the locker room

I think the conversation of who goes stems from the eventual return of Roussell.

Eriksson would have to go down.
Motto or Schaller rotate out.

I think Leivo is odd man out when Roussel returns

If JV can take his spot in the top 6, you may be right.

Leivo becomes the press box guy? or do they look at packaging a bunch of youngish talent for someone better.

Are they really going to go with Baertschi and Goldy in the AHL the entire season if they continue at this pace? I doubt it, I know Jim's not going to throw away depth but once Roussell comes back.

Gaudette and Eriksson are already scratches.

Van can't really take on any extra salary right now so what comes in must go out.

Someone needs to be traded when Roussel comes back. Schaller, Motte, Leivo, Jake are the candidates that make the most sense to me. I would guess JB is watching those guys closely right now.
- NorthNuck

Ottawa might make a good trading partner.

Where’s nighthawk?

I want his projected lineup for when Roussel returns. Gaudette to the AHL and JV loading up on popcorn while killing any trade value he had left seems to be the easy answer.

- Nucker101

Maybe he is still house shopping?

I think a trade is possible.

I also think Benning likes that both teams are winning. I don't think Loui on Utica would help them.

Isn't Roussel the better PK option? Motte and Schaller could swap in or out depending upon need for speed or heavy game.

No, I’m a big Roussel fan but even his 5v5 defensive play is questionable.
