A big 15-20 goal guy who is 50% on the dot would be a massive improvement over Sobotka
- jcragcrumple

You know, when he played on Barkov's wing w/Huberdeau he was sound defensively, and offensively would go do the work along the wall to free it up for the two magicians. Even when not getting a point, he contributed to many goals. There were those who'd also write off all secondary assists as irrelevant (even when the play never happens without it). Many didn't appreciate those facts and only focused on his goal totals. From what I read here, Bjugs was like that line's Sobotka. Injuries really derailed Bjugstad, had high hopes for him when he first arrived. He's a good player, and also a good guy, from all accounts. LoL, You guys here would have a grand old time arguing his merits and abilities back and forth amongst yourselves.

I mean, he's like a nine goal scorer over 82 games if he doesn't improve at all over last year? And that was in 12 minutes or so of ice time. In 15-16 minutes he's like a 12 goal scorer maybe. A very minor improvement gets you to 15.

Isn't that already a considerable improvement to Sobotka? The only reason not to do it is if you think TT needs ahl time, which is a valid pov.

- matty12345

If Tage Thompson was in the AHL all year last year instead of on a line with Sobotka, under Housley, I wonder what the perception would be

I just see him more as a 3rd line PP specialist. (Sheary or Vesey's role) It's a pipe dream, but I'd like to see them go out and acquire some real proven talent to bolster the team for a real run at a top-3 division spot. The leafs D is not good and Andersen may be showing some wear from the heavy usage he has seen over the years. Let's make a play

What? We have like $0 under the cap. What if we're competing at the trade deadline and wanted to add a rental forward? I think we do need to create space.
- turbo044

Right. Exactly what I said. If he brings in salary, he'll send salary out, maybe with a pick attached.

And yet you have been repeatedly saying they are good based on a small sample size of 3-10 games?

The rangers and wings suck hard. The sabres are trying to prove they aren't just a repeat of last year. Go pound these two bad teams. You're better. Go show it. That's it.

If the sabres lose tonight it doesn't mean they are bad. But it would be nice for us to look better than a bad team. That's all man.

- matty12345

Sure it would
But “that’s not all” you were saying

If they can come out and dominate play and throw up some lopsided shots, it will really prove they've moved up a class
-matty12345

So yeah, it would be nice
But it won’t “prove” anything

If im not mistaken(which happens a lot) I dont think they could even roster the last available spot cause they are so tight.
- hubie

You are mistaken, fwend. Montour will bring this roster to 23. His salary is counted against the cap, today.

we are making a run at a top 3 division spot

10 games in, 12% of the season and we are the top team in the NHL standings

I think personally olofsson is having a hard time 5 on 5 so when they tinker with the lines, call up tage

It’s always the people who don’t take the time to understand stats who criticize them the most.

It’s beyond frustrating

- sbroads24

Do you know what the stats said about the Foreman Ali fight? Foreman was killing him. If you looked at the stats of that fight you’d wonder how Ali won. Stats don’t tell the whole story. I don’t care how many times you say it, they don’t.

I can't think of one sabre that is worse this season then last

so housley probably had no f@cking clue and tage will do much better when he gets the call up

- homiedclown

Good point,

I'd say vesey, but he played for the rangers.

On pace for 0 goals this year

Last year up here showed how far he has to go
Hopefully it will translate up here at some point
Who knows though?

But if his AHL play has made him an appealing prospect to some again,
I wouldn’t hesitate to move him in the right deal

Tage deserves a shot, IMO.
