Totally opposed to breaking up the 3rd line, its been a great line this year. Glad JC isn't panicking yet. Find combinations to get the other 2 lines going. Looks like that process is still working itself out, but we HAVE a dynamite third line.

I don't dislike those 4 lines either. Looks pretty solid.

The defense though...i dunno...let's see how a Gus-KoeKoek duo fares...may not be pretty...

I don't think JC has much choice. I would bet neither KK or Gus see much 5 x 5 play.

But you almost have to play them some at 5 x 5. Can't play the top 4 at 25 minutes each...and that still leaves 10 minutes. Neither will PK, so unless there is 12 or 15 minutes of PP time you want to use them in.....I am afraid they will have to be exposed to 8-10 minutes of 5 x 5.

I believe KK will get some PK time, Offensive zone starts you might see Gus instead of Dahaan, and have DaHaan playing a shift or 2 with KK. Brookbank will have to be creative.

From Laz...

Blackhawks this morning:

DeBrincat-Toews-Shaw
Strome-Dach-Kane
Saad-Kampf-Kubalik
Nylander/Smith-Carpenter-Caggiula

Keith-de Haan
Maatta-Seabrook
Koekkoek-Gustafsson
Gilbert-Perlini

- TheCore

lines of kane-strome-ADB/Nylander or strome-adb-nylander are defebsive liabilities...don't forecheck well, kane/adb always looking to flee the zone..nobody to get the puck back...nylander still floats to much

you can accept that risk when you need a score in the 3rd...

i expect with dach playing and perlini relegated to 14-15 th forward he may ask to be moved soon...

top two line have had scoring chances but hot goalies have stuffed them...

the biggest T6 problem is toews...not much from him at all and he cost them some goals and possible point with his poor dzone decision making; chasing the puck and not paying attention to weakside guy left alone in front of the net..

he and adb are due for an offensive explosion over a 4-5 game stretch...

Imo, gotta try some stuff to get three balanced lines (plus a PITA 4th). They can always go back to the current third line if need be.

Cat's had some tough luck lately with broken sticks and great goalie play. Would like to see cat/toews/shaw line get an ugly goal tonight

But then when JC tried Kubalik with Toews and broke up the third line, everybody was up in arms that JC broke up what was working, and not only did putting Kubalik with Toews not work, but Saad and Kampf weren't working anymore either.

If the Leafs get knocked out early and management responds by firing Babcock, do the Hawks hire him?

That's why I kept Saad and Kubalik together in my lines. If they are really effective with Kampf in the middle, they should be better with Johnny. Unless the higher quality of competition hurts them.

Also, it is probably not the best idea to make decisions based on the reactions and opinions of the Board of Doom, mine included.

I think Saad will be fine with any top 9 forwards. He is playing his ass off this (contract) year.

I want someone with Kubalik who can feed him the puck. Put him on PP 1 too in Toews spot and put Toews down low where Strome has been playing. He is the one guy on this team that will shoot every chance he gets.

If teams are hell bent on taking away the cross ice to Dcat for a one timer then Kubalik can drift around and find soft spots to rip pucks from. Gives Toews someone to feed from down low too.

What did you learn about taxes at summer camp?

They're no fun? Speaking of doubles, the "r" wouldn't happen to be for Richard, would it?

I was in Greece the last three weeks and I saw what happens when there is a small tax base. The country runs basically as a cash underground, no one wants to deal in anything but cash. I have never seen so many credit/debit card scanners that don't work and the deals offered if cash is used instead of credit/debit cards. No, taxes aren't fun but they are also an neccesary evil if you want the conveniences offered by countries that have a stable tax base.
