I was in Greece the last three weeks and I saw what happens when there is a small tax base. The country runs basically as a cash underground, no one wants to deal in anything but cash. I have never seen so many credit/debit card scanners that don't work and the deals offered if cash is used instead of credit/debit cards. No, taxes aren't fun but they are also an neccesary evil if you want the conveniences offered by countries that have a stable tax base. - paulr
Give it 6 months and the Bloc Quebecois will have that jerk Trudeau waiving all taxes in La Belle Province. Then the Habs will be able to recruit any free agents they want. |

Yes, I’m aware of the author. Are you guys saying you support her socioeconomic ideology? - Chief4Feathers
Not entirely...she a bit extreme. I do think that a government that tries to do too much and uses ever increasing taxes and regulations to do it, no matter how good the intentions, risks alienating the very people/businesses that provide the majority of the tax revenue stream.

Can't be an easy place for anyone to succeed. The GM is a dumbass and as we have seen a coach can only do so much. |

Must be from an eastern province, heard the western provinces want to form their own country due to the western provinces funding the spending of the more populous western conferences.

I think Saad will be fine with any top 9 forwards. He is playing his ass off this (contract) year.
I want someone with Kubalik who can feed him the puck. Put him on PP 1 too in Toews spot and put Toews down low where Strome has been playing. He is the one guy on this team that will shoot every chance he gets.
If teams are hell bent on taking away the cross ice to Dcat for a one timer then Kubalik can drift around and find soft spots to rip pucks from. Gives Toews someone to feed from down low too. - bhawks2241
With the Hawks PP being quite predictable and stationary, having a shooter who can drift in and out to create impromptu scoring chances is key.
Agree that Kubalik has proven he can do just that. His highlight reels from his European pro league experience shows this ability and so has the initial slate of games in his NHL rookie year. |

The west isn't really represented because Quebec and Ontario basically dictate what government Canada will have. On Tuesday's election the call that the Liberals had won occurred before the Wests ballots had even started to be counted. |

People are pissed because of "equalization" the west sends loads of cash east and gets nothing in return. I think its really stupid talk, be like california wanting to leave. |

There has been talk about that. There is also been lots of discussion of splitting California into 3 states, for the same reason, LA and SFO rule the legislature because of population, but the majority of the land mass is farming. |

I spent a week in Canada last week and watched a fair amount of election coverage on CBC. I admire the Canadian respect for one another and the general acknowledgment that there is a social contract guiding that principal. I wish we had more of that civility here in the States. |

I don't remember the source but I read many years ago that the US had a plan in place to accept British Columbia as a state if it decided to secede from Canada.

Don't know if you're retired but it's easy to lose track of days if you are. The only day I'm sure of is Sunday because the newspaper is much thicker. |

Nope 33 and an attorney. I really should know the day of the week. It is kind of important schedule wise. Fortunately, I figured it out around 9:00 a.m.
What a let down it was though! |
