Oh, let’s see some stats to back that up.
No joke.
Weak.
Still ignoring the obvious. Who is your 13F preference? - NC Flyers Fan
not willing to look it up, but guessing a team in the past dressed 13 forwards and 5 d. and the 13th forward does get to play....the individual will fill in due to injuries or healthy scratches. |

Let’s not confuse playing well with not playing poorly. I don’t think anyone could objectively say Hagg has played well when hasn’t been bad is an option to describe his play through the first couple games. - Shrike
I don't know dude, you just seem dead-set on Hagg not being able to be good and Morin being better despite only playing like 10 NHL games. I don't think there's really anywhere to go from here for us. |

If he's playing as a fill-in, then he's not the 13th forward that night. |

i'm an old school hockey fan as well. quick question, if farabee gets head hunted last game, would you rather have stewie in the game or another kid getting possible 8-9 minutes a night. development is important, confidence is as well. Any kid walking into the room at 18-19 years old at about 170 pounds i'm sure would be a little more comfortable having a 242 pound man say...any one touches you i'll remove their head. |

that's why i said the individual will get the call. no usually the 13th forward is in the box. if you are interpreting the exact wording, but i'm guessing most can figure what i was saying.
and i don't disagree with most of you. Stewie is a fine 13th forward most nights. When facing certain teams with the players they have, i have no problem dressing him for that physicality. |

I would think Morin would have no problem accepting a 14 day conditioning stint. He is a hockey player and he wants to play hockey.....at least I would hope so.
It can only be a positive for him (barring injury of course) to get some real ice time playing a game in anger.

So reading Ek and he says this , "As a side-note, I recently learned the Flyers and Stars discussed a Benn/Voracek deal in the summer...."
Straight up it's an interesting prospect without my looking at contracts.
If the Flyers had to give up more dunno. |

Who in the NHL is going head hunting? The big cheapshot Enforcer is dead in the NHL. There is no one out there that any guy on any roster cant go after, even if that is the case the instigator rule prevents retaliation anyways. You saw it with Konecny on Monday. The team took exception to the hit from behind by McNabb. There is no need for a tough guy. |

Find it hard to believe. Benn has a NMC. Cap didnt make sense for the Flyers either unless it was pre-Hayes |

I am amazed at the resistance to possibly improving the roster over staying with a player who has almost 2 years of mediocrity under his belt. |

to me there are plenty of players that still throw cheap or dirty shots. was just a question. Your view point i take it is the physicality players like stewie, lucic, and reaves provide is dead in the league. I still like having that toughness/support on my team. To me enforcers were only there to fight. that's not the sole purpose of having stewart. No we will not see any cote's, but tough guys that play positionally sound and aren't considered a detriment. yes (always the intangibles people discuss.) That's why the above players are still in the league imo. |

right and is debatable (league minimum signing). guessing reaves and some of the other guys that bring more of a physical presence wouldn't have a job if the didn't fight.
what it is becoming is not called an enforcer anymore, but the big power forwards that are willing to throw....i.e. mantha, wilson, ferland, what simmonds and stewart used to be.
on but off topic. when he tried to rally the troops during the dallas game, look at the faces of the flyers bench when stewie fought oleksiak. |

Give me the lineup that has the best chance to win. Hextall loaded the franchise up with high end prospects that are now starting to knock on the door. The thought of the icing Stewart as protection is archaic in today's NHL. |

and i don't want our high end picks playing in a 4th line role as i feel that would slow some of their development. let them get their minutes in the ahl until they prove they belong. never said he's just here as an enforcer. if that was the case we have gabriel who can just be punched in the face every so often. we all have different opinions. i think people get caught up in one example. i just don't have a problem with him being here as the 13th forward, getting reps in every so often. good locker room guy, confidence booster, if we get to shootouts and he's playing well, we may actually win one, physical presence. that's why i'm guessing. but ultimately doesn't matter. they saw something so they signed him. and experienced coach in av praised him for what he brings, an element we were missing. |
