I still have no idea what Hagg provides that makes trying another player in his spot so impossible to fathom for some people.

Why must Robert Hagg be in the lineup every game?

- Shrike

He doesn't have to be in the lineup every game. But playing Morin in his place just for the hell of it isn't a good reason, and waiving him would be asinine at this point.

Last season, Lehtera had been charged with involvement in a cocaine ring. He cost the Flyers nearly 4 million more for a cap hit, he played in 9 games by this time compared to Stewart’s 3, and frankly makes Stewie look really fast in comparison. And I don’t want the kids in the 13F role. When you ignore all these facts, I can see your point.

13th forwards don’t play. Stewart sees ice, daily. All of the Flyers prospects are not top 6 forwards. Some are bottom 6 forwards, and should be in that role in the nhl over an aging Stewart, just like lehtera had no business seeing the ice last season over anyone on the phantoms.

How much cap space would the Flyers have accrued if they LTIR'd NoPa on the opening day of the season?

Not much, his cap his is under $1M. So, take their season opening cap space not counting him, subtract that from his cap hit, and there's the answer...I think.

I figured that. But if he is out for another 2 weeks-1 month we are talking about a good chuck of change.

Just not sure why they didn't do that. Every dollar counts when you are a cap ceiling team.

Unfortunately not a good enough reason to play him. Conditioning stint is the best option. There is no reason mess with what is working right now
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Probably have to wait until beginning of November. Flyers have a couple of weeks on the east coast, and Phantoms have a slew of games during that time.

His cap hit is roughly $5,500.00 per day. Over 24 days that is $132,000.00. I could be wrong.

He was sent to the glue factory this morning

That was quick 😄

I hope he can stay healthy because we already have our fair share of 1st round picks with injury issues. Patrick, Morin and Rubtsov.

If they need those dollars, they can place him on LTIR retroactively at any time.

I believe you can retroactively place a player on LTIR. If it gets to that point, they could. The hope is that he will miss less than the minimum 25 days required for LTIR.

25 days is Saturday. I was unaware of the retroactive ability of LTIR. So my original question is moo.

But it’s not just for the hell of it. It is to see if you have anything in Morin. Playing Morin let’s you find out if you have a player or if you are wasting roster spot. Either way the worst case scenario in drop off in play is impossible to amount to anything of note when at worst, the player has been in the bottom five across the board statistically of defenseman in the entire nhl for 2 years, and best case hasn’t been as bad as he has normally been during the first 7 games.

Could have been a Flyer but Eminger was too good to pass up
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

well, hindsight. he may not have been drafted by us if we kept the pick. we should be really upset that we didn't or other teams passed on datysuk, zetterberg, stone, aho, point......who were not selected in the first round

All this would make sense if Hagg were playing like poop. But he's not, so...

Brandon manning strung together some good games too

So you ride the good streaks, and then bench him if/when he poops the bed.

Morin will get his chance at some point. You're being too dramatic.

So what has Hagg done in this (admittedly young) season so far to warrant being scratched over any other current defenseman save Niskanen?

Also, if he's playing well and gets rewarded be being a healthy scratch, what kind of message does that send to the player? Same goes for when Manning was here.

Let’s not confuse playing well with not playing poorly. I don’t think anyone could objectively say Hagg has played well when hasn’t been bad is an option to describe his play through the first couple games.

Why can’t Morin get in a game over Hägg ? Has Hägg really been that consistent in a good way? I haven’t seen it.
- Buzzo

Hagg isn't noticeable. Which is a good thing for a defensive defenseman.

He hits, he blocks shots and he's positionally sound. And as someone else said earlier, he has yet to be on the ice when a goal is scored against the Flyers.

Why would you take Hagg out? Braun maybe. Ghost Maybe. But Hagg has been pretty solid.

In fact, the ONLY thing that made me cringe so far this year is when Hagg slashed the Knights player and gave the Knights a 5 on 3 power play. But the game was 4-0 at that point anyway.

Other than that....he's been....dare I say.....surprisingly good?

with the logic i see him using half the team should be switched out with phantoms players

He played ahead of pitlick on Monday night? Did you not see that?
- corduroy

So because Pitlick got scratched once, he is a 13th forward? Laine dressed on the 4th line at times last season does that make him a 4th line player?

morin has been out for almost two years. I as well want to see the kid play to see what he can do, but am in agreeance with most, in that you don't just put him in to put him in. We are not at every practice (to see what he is working on.) Let the kid get his reps in, learn the system. When an injury occurs or when the schedule gets heavier he will get some games in. He ws steadily improving before the injury, but for a big man have two years away not working as closely on edge and footwork.......those are my concerns.

Hagg is usually at the top of the league in hits. not everything and no he isn't an offensive d man. One of our premier offensive d man in Ghost was having some serious puck woo's. no one talks about him coming out. Braun is good defensively and is getting harder matchups...but has the worse plus minus. Hagg is competent in his role. sorry guy above did and it's why i copied the post....in agreeance with him

Oh, let’s see some stats to back that up.

No joke.

Weak.

Still ignoring the obvious. Who is your 13F preference?
