My issue with Stewart is just that aside from the occasional fight and this supposed deterrence that he brings, his game just isn't good. He's not fast, he doesn't handle, pass, or shoot the puck well. On some hits he's tried, he actually ends up n the ice because of his lack of agility (glaring example was an open-ice hit attempt last game).
I'm not saying Pitlick is a great bottom-6 player, but I feel that there are better options than Stewart in the organization. - jmatchett383
which options do you think are better joey? |

I will spare you the energy, effort and intangibles argument. Go Stewie! đ
I think there are a lot of options for that 4th line, but they are all kids or still developing. Other than maybe Gabriel, who else besides Stewart is really a fit as the 13F option? I guess maybe Pitlick but his injury history is a issue for me there.
The 4th line hasnât been in the mix for biggest problems so far. I think they are still trying options and will get it figured out.

John Carlson has 20 pts in 11 games and currently leads the league in scoring. That's insane - bulet13

Want to free up a lot of cap space and allow the team to make pretty much any move they want?
Trade JVR.
Heâs a one dimensional player who is never going to fit in well on an AV coached team. I didnât like the signing when it happened and I donât like it today. They have plenty of players to make up for his scoring and the team improves defensively once heâs gone.
When Patrick returns, they can role with:
Lindblom-Coots-TK
Giroux-Hayes-Farabee
Laughton-Patrick-Jake
Raffl-Misha-Pitlick

No way. JVR is a good forward on the team and he has looked good. I have even seen him back checking. He has 35 shots on goal. He is going to blow like a teen going through puberty. If we need some breathing room the best options are to deal Pitlick or Hagg. A good chunk of Cap gets freed up at the end of the season |

Could they mutually agree to terminate the contract, then resign him to an ahl only deal (assuming you can pay him whatever you want in the ahl as I do not know if there is a max salary). Then when the time is right sign him to a pro deal.
Yes. Page 3 of the CBA spells this out explicitly. |

He has looked good, no doubt, but itâs only a matter of time before heâll disappear for a bunch of games. The backchecking wonât last long either. He is what he is, his game isnât going to radically change now that heâs 30. |

Can you be sent on a conditioning stint in the ahl if you havenât been injured, without having to clear waivers? - Shrike
Yes. Just need player's permission. NHL can block it if they feel like you're abusing it, but in Sam's case, it's merited. |

He wasnt good enough on the NHL club. He and Bunnman were sent down in favor of Misha and Farabee. Despite the common uneducated opinion, it has nothing to do with Stewart. Stewart is a guy who will fir the 13th forward role. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I have never seen a 13th forward actually get ice time in a game. Somehow you consider me "uneducated" |

I would make Pitlick the 13F and would have kept Twarynski up on the 4th line. Gabriel should never see the NHL, as he's not good enough no matter how hard he trained. |

People were screaming for "kids" over Lehtera last season. Stewart is no better than Lehtera. How do you defend your hypocrisy? How are "kids" supposed to get experience when they are blocked by a GM's pet project? |

13th forward plays from time to time when needed. Stewart has only played 3 games compared to Pitlick who has played 6. Part of the reason Stewart has played is because Bunny and Carsen were sent down and they waited to call Farabee and Misha up. As long as Pitlick is on the team I dont see Stewart playing ahead of him |

Just watch, Stewie gets us the extra point in a shoot out or defends a key player after a dirty play or rallyâs the bench during a tough moment or just practices well and sits in the press box without whining...at league minimum. I am still very fine with the Stewart signing.

Morin needs to be playing. Now is the time to try to figure out what he is. I keep seeing posts saying that it's nice to have depth on D. But how can he even be considered depth right now? He's played 20-something professional games in 2 years.
I would convince him to do the conditioning stint with the Phantoms. Telling him upfront that it is essentially a tryout for playing time with the Flyers. If he goes down there and plays within his game, and does well, then I believe he should be inserted into the Flyers lineup over Hagg for at least a couple of games (not permanently, unless he earns it). This is not a knock on Hagg. It's about finding out what Morin is. He's 24 years old now.
I would prefer this approach over having him sitting around not playing, and waiting for an injury to one of our Left Dmen, then being forced to throw the kid into NHL action as a result. - Big_E_88
This 100%.
I didn't know we could send Morin down for a conditioning stint. I feel like that would be the right thing to do and then give him some games. Would it mess with Hagg's confidence to have him sit? We swap forwards out every other day, why not a defenseman? |

Why canât Morin get in a game over Hägg ? Has Hägg really been that consistent in a good way? I havenât seen it. |

Last season, Lehtera had been charged with involvement in a cocaine ring. He cost the Flyers nearly 4 million more for a cap hit, he played in 9 games by this time compared to Stewartâs 3, and frankly makes Stewie look really fast in comparison. And I donât want the kids in the 13F role. When you ignore all these facts, I can see your point.

Unfortunately not a good enough reason to play him. Conditioning stint is the best option. There is no reason mess with what is working right now |

I still have no idea what Hagg provides that makes trying another player in his spot so impossible to fathom for some people.
Why must Robert Hagg be in the lineup every game? |
