There was an interesting article a few years ago - I think maybe it was BIron?
Anyhoo, he said that he preference would be to play the back2back games, and then sit for the next one.
His reasoning was that there was a lot of mental fatigue that goes with being a goalie, and you need the mental break. So he would prefer to be "in the zone" for two days in a row, and then be off for a longer period of time. - Atomic Wedgie
Sounds legit! |

Where did you get that? That would have saved me some time!
I took the schedule, added a formula to count the days between team games, and then a second formula to count the instances of b2b for and against. It does not discount games where a team is playing a team in a b2b where BOTH teams are not rested (For instance I noticed from the raw data that while Carolina plays teams 23 times that have only 1 day of rest, in a lot of those cases Carolina was also unrested). |

Don't want fighting at all and I never personally was a fighter, but true winsix story, I used to get bullied at school. My dad paid for some self defence instructions and I got up the the brown belt level in Grade 10. I never attacked anyone, but the bullying stopped at some point - not sure why. My marks also improved dramatically. - winsix
Winsix for the win!
Was it ju jitsu?
Loved that, wanna get my kids into it. |

exactly my point , andersen can play 2 nights in a row no problem, they could
have won last night with him in net, save hutchinson for the SJ game and then
put Andersen back in against habs with 4 days rest ...
babcock is an idiot , enuf said.... team is not playing for him and his goalie rotation is stupid...
the sooner he is gone the better.... |

Karate, you won't regret it. My 15 year old has been taking lessons for about 3 years, never gets bullied, doesn't get in fights, but can go about his business in peace and act with confidence. I think it would be a more productive and positive experience for guys like Marner, Matthews and Nylander than playing Fortnite in the hotel room. |

It won't be long before teams start using my 3goalie proposed solution:
goalie A: starting goalie for 55 or so games
goalie B: starting goalie for remaining (27 or so) games
goalie C: professional backup - the guy that always is the backup for A & B. Will probably only play 5-9 'half' games - when the starter is pulled.
In this way, when a goalie is not starting, he is truly resting (not even the stress of potentially having to fill in if the starter gets pulled) |

Hey, if you would have told me when I was 7 years old that it would take over 25 years for me to see another cup parade, I would have called you crazy.
Or you know.... hide behind my dad since I was not allowed to talk to strangers. |

I don't think Babs is an idiot, he's a good coach.. I don't agree with his decisions, but he knows what he's doing.. I would have liked to see Andersen last night and Hutch against CBJ.
It does seem like the team is starting to tune him out though, and if that is the case then he might need to be let go sooner rather than later. |

A very nice system...in theory. But, with the CAP crunch of so many teams. It becomes a luxery to even have a decent backup at 2-3 million. Can't see too many teams being willing to pay for THREE starting goalies. A few teams might, but most probably couldn't even entertain such an idea. |

Luckily for the Habs organization they did not have an owner like Ballard. Bad ownership is a death sentence to sport franchises. Raptors won a pretty big championship for the current owners of the Leafs - ownership no longer an issue, hard cap is though - winsix
We've never had an owner problem but god knows we've had management problems over the years.
Réjean Houle? Pierre Gauthier?
Marc Bergevin looks like a genius next to those guys. And god knows he's made some mistakes. |

So you pay a minimum of $700k or more considering that the league minimum is going to go up - for a guy who's sole purpose is to backup the backup and fill in when the backup plays poorly and is pulled?
That's a lot of money to pay for a guy who maybe gets in net 3 times / year.
You never know. I don't like the idea of the "opener" in baseball, but it's a thing. I don't much like the idea of the backup's backup either.
I mean it feels sort of like . . I'm busy, so I hire an assistant, and my assistant is occasionally busy, so I hire them an assistant who is never busy. What am I paying for? |

Also, we're rather limited in roster spots right now.. I think we are only carrying 21 players in total
