Just watched the game.

Matthews invisible and 0 effort.
Nylander a wimp as always - avoid physical contact at all cost.
Marner offensively invisible - but at least quite good defensively (a few good steals and played well on the PK).
Hutchinson with a very mediocre game again.

Leafs in general seem to be afraid to play the Bruins - Bruins throw a few hits, and most Leafs players are more concerned with not being hit instead of making plays.

Positives: Kerfoot, Kapanen, Mikheyev, Freddy the Goat (playing really well) and I thought Johnsson was playing a good game, he had some jump to his play (with the exception of those 2 consecutive penalties of course). Timashov has been a very pleasant surprise as well.

Poor Rielly for being paired with Cody 'I don't know how to position myself in the d-zone' Ceci.

Muzzin Barrie pairing was ok, but unspectacular.

Holl playing well, and Gravel wasn't as bad as I thought he would be.

It's time for Dubas to make a move - starting with trading Nylander.
He's just not contributing anything apart from some easy plays.
He might be the player on this teams with the lowest hockey IQ - just gets the puck and then skates skates skates - only if a very obvious play develops, he'll make that play, but most of the time he ends up giving the puck away.

TO DO List for Dubas:

1/ 2nd line winger to play with Matthews and Mikheyev/Moore.
2/ a good #3C that can defend and bring some physicallity.
3/ a proper d-partner for Rielly.
4/ a proper backup goalie.

Nylander, Johnsson, Ceci, Bracco and a few others all available to make these deals.

- MaximusAurelius

Nylander is a punk female dog , cant stand him anymore, lazy, wimpy, effort is zero 90% of the time, trade his ass immediately while you can, get some D...

Not sure whats up with Matthews but he is showing no effort a lot of the time ...does
he just hate babcock and not want to play for him? gotta wonder...

I think the leafs have no choice but to fire him and shake the team up with some trades too.... otherwise this season is done soon....

Overreact much?

Nylander is one of our more consistent forwards. He always has the puck, back checks, takeaway machine in the neutral zone, head's up smart player that rarely takes penalties. A north/south banger he is not, and never will be, however.

Matthews and Marner need to be better; Marner in particular. Besides blocking shots infrequently, what kind of grit and jam does he bring over Nylander? He avoids contact as much as any of them do.

Yep. And this narrative that a player stops playing to spite the coach I find to be simply not believable.

I think they are legit tired. I don't know if any of the Buzzards on here have ever played a competitive sport, but it takes a while to get into the swing of things and playing as many games as they have, while being hit with the injury bug and all the new faces doesn't exactly set them up for success.

If we were getting demolished every game, I'd be more concerned, but let's at least see what they can do with a healthy lineup before we pass judgement on the whole team and start trading everyone.

Gravel was horrendous, I’ll blame it on nerves, but...he was Midget House League material last night. ( I’m being generous )

Hes not a afraid to take a hit. Nylander is, hes easily knocked off the puck some nights. But has some great moves.
Am, mm, and willie are inconsistent players, that will need to change in order for this team to take the next step.
Both mm and am really need to improve their overall game, theyre getting points sure but at 10m plus i have to see more.
But.
Its only 11 games, we'll get a better idea of things after 20-30 games
Way too early to be talking trades

What trades? Who do they trade? Man, there's plenty of fans who would wish for this team.

Let's not be debbie downers with only 11 games played so far this season. 11 games!

Matthews in particular looked tired. His play yesterday - even coming out on a fresh shift, his skating looked laboured. That was their 3rd game in 4 nights, and 5th game in 8. I sort of suspect that his cardio is not up to the same level of some of the smaller guys, but it's also potentially a product of just being a bigger guy.

Definitely it's a hard October.

Kinda true. Nylander is even more soft. Without Hyman up there being a gud pro, they just fall apart.

It’s the whole team. They’re all pussies except for Johnsson and Muzzin. Trading Kadri left a massive void, how they didn’t have the foresight see that is baffling.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

People overrate Kadri's physical game. He was not nearly as physical as some of you like to believe. And the times he was, he was stupid about it. Trust me, leafs are not missing him.

The excuses are hilarious:

Hutch was awful
Our guys are tired
Bergeron is too good to beat
Our new players are figuring out our system

Our big guns were not good last night. Many of our players look out of sync and its not just because they are new. Rielly keeps making bonehead mistakes and coughing the puck up in our end. After last year I thought he was ready to take it too a whole new level, but he has regressed. Barrie has done nothing offensively (I assume Babs has puck the screws to him and forcing him to play defence). I think Muzzin has been our best defender this year. Gravel was okay last night, little bit of nerves, but at least he is not afraid to get hit.

Kerfoot has been great. Soup boy, Goat, Moore, Johnsson (except last night), Timishov have been good.

Willy might be a smooth skater with the puck, but he has to learn to stop waving his stick at guys to ‘check’ them. He needs to take the body.
Marners skating looks off. Haven’t seen him ‘buzzin’ all over the ice much. And obviously need to stop the atrocious turnovers in our end.
Matthews is the same old Matthews. Has moments of beast mode but some games seems disinterested. Is it his age? Not in game shape yet? I don’t know.

Babs is Babs...

It's October. 😂 Have some perspective. Be thankful your team's roster isn't full of junk like my team is. Do you know how hard it is to watch Justin Abdelkader 82 times a year? 🤮
