He's matched up against Bergeron. You guys gotta let this one go.

They're the best line in hockey. You aren't going to beat that line. You have to do your best to nullify them 5v5 and let your depth get something going. That's the only way to beat Boston. If their first line gets to run amuk, they'll decimate you.

I agree with this....

but it raises one question.

Perhaps consider putting Kapanen and Mikheyev on with Matthews to play against Bergeron's line.

That would free up Marner to play we'll assume more offensively against the other Bruins lines.

I love that that was the best argument you could come up with. Speaks volumes.

What are you talking about? The Leafs have lots of ‘elite’ talent that and continually getting outperformed by top teams and talent... If you are getting paid 11 mill per and are playing with another guy making 11 per, you better fight through and get chances and carry your team...

Leafs have players who are "elite" are certain parts of the game.

But not others.

That's the difference.

I thought the same thing. Marner shouldn't be on that line when in reality the main goal is to prevent offence, not generate offence, since you know they'd be hard pressed to do so.

The grass isn’t always greener...Gravel and Marincin are both 7th D. Over the course of a full season they bring the same production.
- Santo_44

so Gravel gets less than a game to get involved.

you guys are ridiculous.. just like Babcock.

we all knew going into the season what Marincin is/was.

playing him the first games - particularly with Sandin did nothing but create a false sense of promise.

give Gravel at least a few games

I never even gave Gravel a game.

I knew he wasn’t any better than Marincin before the game. Seems like Babcock agrees based on who he played and there is nothing wrong with that.

Marner and Matthews are 1st and 2nd in points. They're doing fine. But the Bergeron line is still the best in hockey. Good luck getting much done on them. They kill every line they match up with.

Marleau has 5 points in 5 games

points don’t mean much with such a small sample size

Leafs played really well tonight. Refs screwed them. It's still early. Cue the pessimistic crowd now. I'm out.
