What % do you envision Morin being claimed if he's waived? - jmatchett383
Pretty close to 0%.
Need a team with cap space AND roster space AND doesn't already have a logjam on D AND doesn't already have a big lefty giant of their own AND believes in Sam.
Doesn't really leave too many candidates, if any. |

Anybody pick up Jarred Tinordi on waivers? He's just as big, just as mobile, and has more NHL/pro experience. Former 1st-round pick to boot. - Tomahawk

all about timing. If this was say January or February and he was waived, then yes a see team giving him a long look to close out the year. Now what team will play him in their top 6 this early in the season. Flyers should have waived him when they made their cuts and took a chance he clears. Also see the logic why they didn't. |

He doesn't have to be in anyone's top 6. Just on the NHL roster.

.500 team through 7 games, inconsistent, lack of scoring etc. I think this team has been pretty much what rational fans expected.
Do you want them to drop confetti from the ceiling after beating the LVK vaulting them into 6th place in the Division? - PLindbergh31
Optimal phrase is through 7 games. Rational fans reserve judgment on a new coaching staff with new D pairs, a new center (and another one out until a yet-unknown time) and some legit young prospects either knocking on the door or just arrived. Don't get too low or too high.
Rational is giving credit when due, criticism when merited; and in proper context either which way.
Rational is pointing out that the process may be better so far but inconsistencies still have to be cleaned up. This team has a lot to prove.
Rational is noting that the team has played fewer games than every team but one in the division -- as many as 2-3 fewer in many cases. That's called adding some context.
And then there's Pavel.... negative 24/7, everything is Cataldi-esque overstatement and hyperbole (even though he actually does know the game, unlike Angelo). Omnipresent like a buzzing fly after a bad night, invisible after a good one. The poster child for only happy when miserable, at least as far as the Flyers are concerned. |

Bill just nailed the Clown perfectly with that last paragraph.
It's what I don't understand with him because the few posts he makes that aren't just full of vitriol and hate for the Flyers are typically knowledgeable. |

One reason and one reason only, to troll.
He is the kind of guy who would get a drawing from a little kid. Lets say its a crude drawing of a police officer lending a helping hand. He would tell the kid the drawing sucks because its not realistic or because the head is too big big or because the shade of blue is too dark and cant this idiot kid see my uniform is dark blue and not royal blue and you are a disgrace to children everywhere....
At least that is how I would imagine it would go.

That's self defeating. Even if that is true, there are no guarantees. There is absolutely no chance of Morin developing and improving into an NHL regular sitting in the press box and just practicing. I assume they're just waiting for an injury to play him. If a significant injury happens to a defenseman, will they bypass him and go to Myers? - MJL
depends on who the defenseman is that goes down. |

I don't see them trading Provorov or Sanhiem. So what defenseman would fetch a scoring forward? Gostisbehere? - MJL
I think we have enough quality forwards that will be solid going forward, Giroux, Voracek, Konecny, Lindblom, Couturier, Farabee has to be in the the top six as well. If Patrick gets healthy he has a crack down the road. However if Gostisbehere and say JVR together could score a proven top six sniper I would consider it. I think Provorov needs to be groomed for the #1 pp unit to go with his 20 plus minute games, similar to Morgan Rielly in Toronto. - joegreif17
It’s hard to say. I would think other teams want Provorov or Sanheim. Like Ehlers for Provorov. Kapanen or Laine for Sanheim. Ghost and Hägg are still the two I would consider trading. And Joe might be right. It’s too early to see if Patrick will return or if some of the kids like Vorobyev and Farabee are ready for a full time roles. Maybe we have enough at forward.
When I looked at defensemen depth during training camp, I thought about 60% might take a chance on Morin. Had room for him at 6 or 7 LD, and he was an upgrade. He’s contract isn’t an issue. Many teams I considered have waiver exempt d-men with little to no NHL experience before this season that he could easily be swapped in place.

if the best team in the league last year, against the cap picked up Martel, then yeah i think there is a chance someone would pick up morin to give him a chance. It's possible. Teams interested in different players is their interest. Similar to why draft rankings are always different IMO. People look for or want different aspects. Don't remember much about tinordi. he is older than Sam and has more of a track record that people may shy away from. I remember when Sustr came in, promising big guy. At 22-24 if dropped through waivers would imagine another team giving him a shot. at 26-27 he got one contract and now not even sure what he is doing. The chance is the unproven track record due to the injury he sustained. But i also agree, the press box isn't getting him much action
He will play if braun, hagg are i njured. if it's ghost nisky provie or sanhiem i can see them calling myers up. |
