I would have to wonder what would the trades look like? What would Van get in return. Minny has cap space but unless Guerin is going to make a Fenton like trade Stecher for Dumba straight up. Which Van can't afford under the cap anyways. Toronto and Flyers have worse cap problems than Van does.

Here is my guess of what a Stecher trade could look like.

To FLR: Stecher
To VAN: Pysysk + 5th rounder (TOR's)

Like they're saying if Tanev goes down everything changes, unless they get another RD back.

That would drive me crazy as well. That's a downgrade in talent. For an extra 5th.

on Stecher: The same low rumbles you've heard. I think everyone has heard it & you try to figure out how much significance to attach to it. If they decide to trade Stecher, they'd be selling him as top-4 d-man. And if someone is buying, they'll say he's 3rd-pair

I bet they get less interest during the summer. It’s always easier to trade players for a pick/prospect during the season. Jim’s learned that lesson the hard way that’s why we’re hearing these rumours now instead of 8 months from now

Stechers $2,325,000 cap hit is reasonable, so that's a selling feature.

Especially since Stecher has seemingly regressed offensively, he’s become more of a defensive dman who can can skate/pass decently but doesn’t generate offense.

Small dmen who can’t produce offense aren’t what teams are looking for
