Lucic signed there because they offered him a ridiculous contract that no one else in the league was going to give him. Which also happens to be the worst contract in the nhl now (shocker). Leon and connor both signed their deals before the players clued in to try to get to be UFA as soon as possible instead of taking max year deals. The leafs RFA players get a huge payday now and get another even bigger one much sooner that connor and leon do. If they could go back and do it over not a chance do they take 8 year deals lol even from a financial standpoint its one of the worst places to play because the taxes are so high.

Montreal actually offered more... so there goes that theory

Craig Button right now on TSN 1050:

"The talk about Auston Matthews being a Top 5 player needs to stop. He's not in the the same tier as Leon Draisaitl."

Since when has Button said anything nice about us?

hometown discount?

If he signs for more like 10.5-11M and the Oilers have a tough time unloading Russell, all of a sudden things are looking tough.

- Nucker101

Wouldn’t hometown discount be Calgary?
Why would Hall sign back in Edmonton?

I don't recall Montreal but I recall it coming down to LA v Edmonton where Edmonton offered the 7 years while LA wouldn't go past 6 or something.

Can't say any of the major party attracted me this time around. While I generally try to abide by the 8 yr allowance so that things get done in politics, I find it difficult to back Trudeau. The Cons chose the weaker of two leaders by a fair margin in my opinion. The Greens emphasis on Canadian rail infrastructure intrigued me somewhat.

Curious to see how the likely minority government plays out.

If what I read is accurate then the NDP and Green Party will just end up supporting the Liberals

The nice thing about Hall is that he comes with future lottery picks. Just sit him up there as the team representative, and his team will pull a lucky draw

Canada and increasingly other "Western" countries (still just picking up here in Europe): Men don't go in/leave the elevator when a women comes in, fearing getting their lives destroyed by some random lawsuit/s6xism claim. Feminism has won!

Don’t even think about thinking about dropping Russell in the Jets. We’ll have about 100K in cap space with a Byfuglien return, and don’t need an even worse version of Dmitry Kulikov, thanks.

Not a fan of this Trudeau either. Gonna be interesting to see the effects this election has on Alberta. Cons have a lot of decisions to make regarding their policy and leadership moving onwards. Liberals did their best in appealing to voters and garnering traction. Surprised by NDP this year. I thought they would do slightly better.

Also gonna be interesting to see what happens with the PPC.

Nonetheless, I think that minority government is still gonna see a lot of traction and activity if the Libs can align their somewhat similar views with the NDP on certain things.
