Gee, who aren't you mentioning? Nice try. You know who's coming up. Get the antacids set out within close reach. I'm with you on this. The old traditional route ain't gonna cut it. How many times can Bo be sent up and then returned? Is there a limit? |

Been his MO throughout his whole career. Makes some tough saves and then lets in softies. At least he consistent with it.
But hey. Think he is good all you want. - Elbows15
just for the hell of it i am going to review each of his games and goals to fact check you...who knows you might be right
guy stands on his head for 59 minutes..hawks can't get a clear and one gets through..

Lehner played an outstanding game tonite. Hope he starts the next one. And, that isn't a knock on Crawford. |

Given that choice, I'd opt for Holm. Didn't look bad during exhibition games. Would he be worse than the guy who we are not mentioning? I'd give him a shot.

I doubt it. Koekkoek will play in the next game, like it or not. But I don’t think Boqvist gets his cup of coffee yet. Plus, he’s missed a couple games after taking a pick to the mouth (I think). I could see Gilbert getting the call to get some time practicing with the big club and earning an NHL pay cheque. |

He was the reason the game went to OT. He took forever getting across and almost face planted. You're right there. - Elbows15
Obviously you’re not one to decipher great goaltending to poor goaltending...why even discuss it |

Your analysis of Lehner reminds me a lot of Skip Bayless when he talks about Aaron Rodgers. Skips personal agenda stems from the fact that Rodgers always beats his Cowboys. So what’s your excuse? |

He's in need of actual fresh air and could use a good game of hockey himself, where he actually leaves the cpu and goes and plays. troll disguised as a Hawk fan...our goaltending has been exceptional and will be a huge reason we make the playoffs |

Boqvist isn't anywhere near ready yet. He's been so-so in Rockford thus far.
My guess is Holm gets recalled as the most experienced puck-moving defenseman.
I'd prefer to see Gilbert or Carlsson get rewarded but would be fine with Holm so the other two can get prime minutes in the AHL and continue to develop. |

He has zero goals and one assist in five games. Yeah he scored 30 last year. so he becomes an nhl good scorer when 1 year ...2 years???...we have good goal scorers now who need to get it going...
if he is female dogen about wanting trade because he thinks he is so great..you accommodate him...move on - bogiedoc
On the Saarela trade, I agree: good riddance if he's complaining about not being in the NHL yet. Didn't deserve a spot on the Hawks. Besides unleashing a heavy shot here and there, he was a non-factor and unnoticeable in the first 5 games with the Hogs.
Don't know much about McCoshen besides a few basic things. Big guy at 6'3" 218 lbs. Guessing he's a defensive defenseman based on his stats. He and Matheson were the Panthers top D prospects at one point. |

Not agreeing with trade but anybody know who Philly acquired with those 2 picks and where are they now? - boilermaker100
Timonen was traded for a 2015 2nd rounder and 2016 2nd rounder. The 2015 2nd rounder was traded by the Flyers to the Leafs which Toronto used to draft Jeremy Bracco (RW). Wade Allison (RW) was the 2016 2nd rounder.
Bracco is having a pretty solid start to his pro career with a few years on the Marlies. Allison is in his senior year at Western Michigan.
That trade between Toronto and Philadelphia gave the Flyers a 1st rounder that they used to snag Travis Konecny. |

At first, I was wait and see on that deal. The more I think about it, I find it hard to justify. The only thing I can think of was that they weren't sure if they could get de Haan, and the Maatta deal came up. He made the deal for Kahun, then de Haan came through and Stan had too many NHL D-men. - Chunk
I believe the timeline this past summer was Maatta being acquired for Kahun first but then both de Haan and Lehner becoming available was unexpected.
Luckily Bowman immediately pounced and came away with both giving up just Forling and Forsberg while also gaining Saarela which apparently is now McCoshen.
By netting Maatta and de Haan before the free agency period began, the Hawks obtained a pair of experienced NHL blueliners who were known more for their defense.
IMO, the Hawks blueline on paper at least looked a lot stronger than the season prior. |

Yeh no ... I think what you actually meant to say is that the other guys needed to score more than a single goal.

Great game , not the result Lehner deserved , but they did that to themselves.
They played 40 solid minutes then in the 3rd period they sat back , no sustained offensive pressure , mistakes that Lehner bailed them out time after time. Toews taking bad penalties and his offense is Mia.
Again toews, strome , cat and Kane are all struggling and that is holding this team back.
Defensively they have gotten better . The bottom 6 shows up each game.
Lehner has been the better of the 2 goalies in all of his starts he had earned points for the team and last night he was a beast .

Agree with Lehner's assertion that he sees a team trending in the right direction. They were the better team the majority of the game last night, but just couldn't get another one by Fleury.
I haven't seen a couple games but the ones I have, they are playing a heavier game, overall the defense has looked better and the bottom 6 has looked great.
If the top 6 can get going some time soon, look out. |

Yes, a lose.
But, loving the improvement from last year. The team defense is really coming around.
Remember, a lot of new faces. we should start to gel with more time playing together. Stay the course, this team will run up a 4-5 game winning streak within the next few weeks somewhere. Two OK goalies, improved defense, and still creating 30-40 shots a game.
I think we will be in the running for a wild card spot right up to the end, maybe evebn for a Top 3 spot within the Division. |

I hope your right. I'm just worried that Chicago is piling up to many losses and their star players are mia.
Last year their star players where the only reason for hope. It was all those losses Last year in the beginning that truly cost them a wild card position , and the same will happen again if they don't start winning more games than losing.

Does not matter if it is minor--it just keeps happening with him. - RaleighHawk
Some guys are just too tight. Keith Brown was like that. He always had the lowest fat content on the team, but he was always pulling muscles. Seems Murphy is like that as well. |

My observations of last night.
- Lehner has some old school in him. That's the 2nd time I've seen him "stacking the pads". Too bad on the tying goal he was a touch slow getting over.
- JC may have had enough of Gus. Even down a d-man in the 3rd he only sent out Gus when one of the other 4 needed a breather.
_ Ah Gus. I focused on him when he was out there. This vaunted PP QB on the push them back entry his drop pass isn't to anyone. He just drops it to an area and hopes someone (Kane) just picks it up. After the drop he skates straight for the center of blue line and either waits for an entry or if dumped in, he's the 1st in the zone and stands there.
Another play when he was on with Keith in the Hawk zone. He goes cross-ice to Keith and starts heading north. The problem was Keith had 2 Knights coming in on him and Gus is heading for the other blue line. Keith did get out of it with some help from a back checking forward.
Prior to the penalty he took on the PP where he dove. He was down below the face-off dot and was just starting back when the play started going the other way. If you're the only d-man on the PP, play some defense.
In 19+ min of TOI including 5:27 of PP time, Gus had zero shots. The Caps game, Gus had zero shots.
- Since Toews can't carry a line by himself, give him Saad and Kubilak. Get Debrincat and Strome back together with Kane and hope that line doesn't have to play defense. |

A loss is a loss, I know. But for the first time in a long time I saw progress. When they were on the runs they had the puck most of the time. But in the last few years they needed to step up the grit, and last night I thought they deserved the win because they worked hard for it. They challenged for the puck all night and they won it most of the time. When a team doesn't have the horses like they used to they have to step up the effort. And that's what i saw last night, and I loved it. And I love to see it continue. |
