You could be right but history has shown GMs manke stupid acquistions at the TDL. A team going into the playoffs with a sub par powerplay or with an injury(s) may look at Gus and over pay. - paulr
Bad trades are made every year. Some are lauded when they are made and then turn out bad. Others are criticized when they are made and turn out good.
I am ok with moving Gus in a trade depending on the return. I would not necessarily give him away for chump change. But I would not hold out for a #1 pick either. Something in between works for me. |

Of course you will.
Because you cant justify the brilliance of that line....so deflect.
What exactly has he done/implemented that has worked well? - PatShart
Can not find the box of tissue emoji...... but insert a dozen here.
If on many levels, the most basic of which is team record and competitiveness, you need that answered and are unable to see yourself, then therein lies the problem.
If as a fan you don't like the guy...so be it, but just like Gus on the board, the obsession with boogeymen is confounding. Talk about deflection...

The post I responded to was about needing D, not O
but surprisingly Nylander has played well on the 4th line - gazza53
I wonder how Nylander would look if he played more than 6 shifts the first period of his Hawks career with Toews and Kane? Maybe a few games there could've have helped |

Three rookies on the blue line? That's bold. - mohel
Boqvist will hear the call up some time this season.

I can't believe the state of the Kings roster that they took a 5th rounder last year for Kubalik,

At first, I was wait and see on that deal. The more I think about it, I find it hard to justify. The only thing I can think of was that they weren't sure if they could get de Haan, and the Maatta deal came up. He made the deal for Kahun, then de Haan came through and Stan had too many NHL D-men.
In my mind, Kahun and Nylander are about the same player. I would have much rather traded for de Haan, and kept Joki. Maybe there was something else gong on there, but it boggles the mind a bit. - Chunk
Makes sense, I'm not sure if Stan had a plan or it just all fell
into his lap. |

Maybe, maybe not.
He seems to be thriving in the few games he has played w/the
4th line, gotta see how he progresses.

The team has been steadily improving game to game while adapting to all the new players, and last season they improved drastically after JC took over and almost made the playoffs.
So there’s that... - SimpleJack
That does not fit the narrative- absolutely nothing has done is right. |

I guess the imprint of the "Q" belt buckle is still imprinted on your forehead..
Cheer up big shoots...
The tongue bath many love to give to the bosax of Hawk living legends each night, in the face of their often sub par play at key moments of the game, makes me wonder if some even watch the games.
There's a big world out there and plenty of other great hockey teams, hockey towns and more importantly, hockey players, that do no genuflect at the alter of what happened 5 years ago (humming Chelsea Dagger).

I still don’t see how Kahun and Nylander are the same.
Kahun was undrafted and salvaged from Europe, is 24 years old and a bottom 6 plug in level talent that has most likely reached his ceiling. Through 9 games he’s currently dead last among regular Penguins forwards(the few they have that aren’t injured) with 2 points.
Nylander was the 8th overall pick, highly touted, just 21 years old and only beginning to realize his potential. Has top end caliber offensive skills. Is a natural fit in the top 6...
These 2 aren’t similar at all, and anyone who would prefer Kahun for the same price needs to reconsider their position. |

They don’t do anything well, you’re absolutely right. Not one damn thing. Worst team in team sports history BY FAR. Now that you’ve proven yourself here, why don’t you move on to the next Hawks fan site and share your relentless misery there instead? Deal? |

I'll gladly rather appreciate what good players did through their career while their skills slow down and I dont expect them to be the same players they were 6-7 years ago. Only complete idiots would think 35 yr olds who played that many hard minutes should/would be the same player today.
Feel free to join in with the rest of your apologist friends and continue to genuflect and remove the pants of Alpo Suhonen's illegitimate son Jeremy Colliton. Keep blaming Q who has been gone for a year as to why this guy doesnt know how to match lines. Or I guess you'll tell me he does? |

I literally JUST posted what he’s done well. Can you read? The teams effort and level of play drastically improved after he took over last season and has improved game to game this season despite all the roster changes. The head coach deserves credit whenever this happens to a team, in any team sport. He almost got them to the playoffs last season after the disastrous start under Q. |

Well thank vishnu they almost got to the playoffs last year!
I'll have to rewatch the games to figure out this drastic improvement you specified
I'll look more close at this "effort" he instills in his players. Is it a game face I should look for or hustle to icing touch ups? |

Where does the offense come from on the Dcore? Who plays the top PP unit? Who jumps up on offense as a threat and gets shots from the point? You wanna trade away a guy that just put up 60 pts, checks off all those boxes, and has an incredibly cheap contract just a few games into the season??? - SimpleJack
He's such a liability in his own end, he may have 2 assists on the PP but he also has the assist on the SH goal he gave up, so net 1 great, and as far as generating offense against a heavy checking team he surrenders the puck over and over and over again in his own end.
Im of the group, if you are a dman you need to be able to play defense at least some semblance of it, I'm terrified when we're are on the PP i know we are 1 dumb ass mistake of giving up a SH goal and that was a killer vs the Caps

Well unforunately Stan can't trade with himself. Also Kimmo was still better defensively than Gus is. - LAHawk
He really gave up one #2, the second #2 was only if they won the cup anybody would throw in a #2 for a cup. |

Hey, some of us are just a tad slow...no shame. So, if you must rewatch all of last season again because you didn’t notice the improvements after the coaching change the first time around like most people plz be my guest. |
