I think most of the animosity right now is rightfully against the players.

Fletcher still gets the benefit of the doubt, despite his mandate from upper management. He should be ridiculed for the Stewart signing.

- StepfordSam

Absolutely. These players have been given every pass in the world over the years. There's really no excuses for them anymore. A 4th gm for these guys isn't magically going to fix anything.

Its one game, Shot selection could have been better, but at least they were getting shots - Don't think it was as dominating as it appears but they were by no means terrible, The last few loss' with the exception of Calgary - they were in the games which is what you want when on the road, Its not all gloom doom, This is a solid playoff team and they will be fine, Good god everyone just seems to freak on here - no wonder I usually just read Bills and nothing else. Giroux will start to bury those shots, He never starts hot. Stewart seems to get no love but can anyone say it was not a good time to fight and try to spark the team after starting up 1-0 and going down a few, Great timing and all the Huevos for taking (and winning) against a bit more size.

I'd rather a guy that can skate a full 60 than be a sideshow attraction for a team that should not need any sparks.

How much available cap space did they have when the season ended ? 32 million or so?

Of that 32 what did they spend to resign their own players ? Please respond back

no....

i know they "saved" money on AMAC and Schlemko but instead of burying them in the AHL and keeping the majority on this years cap and being done with them, he elected to use dead space next year....

100% agreed. The move then either should of been go all in on that core or tear it down to the studs and start fresh. The "soft" rebuild or rebuild on the flu or whatever people want to call it made no sense unless you were drafting difference-making players that could step right in and contribute which largely did not happen.

It was mandated by Homer, the President, to stop the madness of trading away the future for the present, I believe his exact words were, “we’ve gotta stop doing this”.

Hextall was brought on-board to clean up the mess and build a future, the problem was, Dave Scott got impatient.

And owners. They are smart and at the same time dumb
- daryl stanley

They all know that there will always be one who will go against the grain and sign some guy to a ridiculous contract. If they all got together and held their ground they would be charged with collusion under anti-trust laws.

The guarantees need to go.

People aren't overreacting. This is a trend that's been going on for seasons.

That Stewart fight was amazing. It's sad some of you little girls get upset when we have a 4th liner take on a huge monster and bloody him to try and swing the momentum back to the flyers. Maybe soccer should be your sport.

Sounds like Farabee is coming up, but Rubtsov or Frost or Myers should also be coming with him, but they can’t add two players thanks to the idiotic Stewart signing.

In the world of Hextall, what would have been an acceptable time frame as a fan and a business to actually see some tangible results with the Flyers?

1) Provorov was 1-on-2 in the corner with Benn and Perry. How was it "entirely on him"?

2) Niskanen, who also has mostly played well this season, was the one who got toasted by Hintz, as the play started to turn dangerous.

3) How many other shifts Provorov skate? 25. How many were solid ones? Most.

- bmeltzer

I guess we see it differently. I see it as provorov making that a two on one with his indecisiveness. Niskanen got beat with a terrific move. Provorov gave it away like he does way too much for what he’s now getting paid

The Flyers got bigger difference makers at #7 and #24 than they did at #2.

It actually was a pretty good fight imo. But the way it happened off a face off was dumb as poop and shouldn’t happen anymore.

Amazing? Two inconsequential players fight on a face off. A defenseman and a winger no less. They weren’t even near each other on the face off. Maybe if it was a fight after a big hit or a scrum in front of the net, but that was hardly inspirational.
