Team who puts no value in snipers continues to fail to challenge goalies. Shocking.

If this poop continues on in the next 5 games or so, I have no problem with calling some of the kids who are ready up. But if our problem is everyone is having a hard time finding the back of the net, one or two kids from the AHL aren't gonna change that much.

I will stop watching every game- i can put this time to much better use.

Daily reminder that we are no closer to being a legit contender despite spending to the cap, and that a former Flyer great Ron Hextall is out of a job because a corporate suit got nervous looking at the bottom line of the plan he signed up for.
- StepfordSam

Daily reminder that former Flyers great Ron Hextall lead the team to 0 because he his plan of waiting for the two year window to open up was perpetually two years away

If Hexy was doing all the things so well why hasn't he landed another job?

I get it, totally easy to complain now but their is no business anywhere on the planet that would allow that business to keep not succeeding without changing. Yes Hexy was solid at drafting but that didn't translate to anything for him and so far some of those prospects are iffy.

Agreed. Hextall needed results at the NHL level and he never did anything to truly help out the current club. It's a very big reason why they continue to struggle now imo.

This.

yes we are massively outshooting the opposition, but the shot quality leaves a lot to be desired. This team is not getting to the net or "inside" as AV calls it.

We know this is not what AV wants. Yes he wants shots but as we saw in the Behind The Glass series, he wants these guys to get in to the slot, around the crease, to the net and get those dirty goals.

Its maddening every single game year in and year out watching this collection of players play a perimeter game. Some people blamed Hak saying that was what he wanted them to do. I would say that theory has been blown out of the water by watching what we know AV wants, and seeing what is actually happening.

Its the players.

The players aren’t good enough. And this core of young dmen that are supposed to be dominating the league are a far cry from any conversation of that

Chuck Fletcher has never built a team that either won its division or made it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs. Why should we have any confidence that he can build a Cup winner?

Bob Clarke takes a lot of crap around here, but he built teams that won divisions, a President’s trophy, went to the conference finals 7 times and the Cup finals twice.

Paul Holmgren takes a lot of crap around here but he took a team that finished dead last and turned it into a conference finalist the next season. He also built a team that reached the finals.

Fletcher hasn’t done squat here other than use up all our available cap space. He didn’t accomplish all that much in Minnesota. Why should I have any confidence in him?

Wasn’t the majority of the cap space earmarked for their own players they had to resign ? So how much did they really have ?

To be fair, Hextall was hamstrung early on by the lack of cap space and some bad contracts. The lack of large spending spending culminated in the cap space this offseason they used to sign all their young guys and Hayes. We can agree they needed to keep Sanheim, Provorov and TK. The Hayes and to a lesser extent JVR are the signings we’ll debate endlessly on here in the future.

Their was zero excuse to lose to a 1-7-1 team at home who is playing the 2nd of a back to back.

This is just a bad team. The team we saw last night and in western Canada is more the truth rather than what we saw the first two games of the season.

Sure they'll string some minor win streaks here and there, but we've danced this dance before. You're getting next to nothing out of most of our top players. Special teams aren't coming through. Again.

No GM in his first year with a nee club is doing anything rash after 6 games. We have to ride this gong show out until the TDL.

Looking at Dallas roster, they are a High end team. And should beat a mediocre flyers team, with a bad mix of forwards. And Ghost and Prov is underperforming.

OK, but statistics prove that a game played in Eastern Europe (either bloc era or post bloc era) followed by a game by the Pacific Ocean then games anywhere near the Rockies ( either U.S. or Canadian) Will not be successful. Further, if that team then faces a tired opponent from a larger than average sized state ( regardless of back to back), they normally lose.
These numbers don't lie.....let's see what happens this week.

Provorov is playing fine. Ghost is struggling. Sanheim has been inconsistent.

Dallas had a whopping 2 shots on net for 38+ minutes of the game. You can't do that to a team if you are playing lousy. The Flyers didn't do enough with the puck last night despite all the shots on goal -- not enough quality chances -- but they defended well after the first period.

Posadelphia will tell you they out played Dallas yesterday.

Except they ignore the fact they were outplayed in scoring
