NaturalStatTrick does that for lines. Wish they did it for Dpairs too just to make it easier.

Absolutely. Last night people were already hating on it, discussing how "hateful" his blog was going to be. Im positive he just find ways to put JJ there and see the comment section burn.

In fact it must be great for clicks, its too easy. You find some way to bash JJ and 5 seconds later the "hateful blogs/oh he's talking about JJ again" police comes swooping in filling the section with posts and posts about it.

- Conse

Actually, I thought that was a mostly positive blog. The shot on JJ was fair even if I agree you can pick on Tanev and Marino as well there.

The attempt to validate his man crush on Simon is getting old for me... Simon is okay but he's not Kunitz or anywhere near an important cog on this team...

In the Fleury/Murray controversy I have always preferred Fleury. I think in some of the supposed "playoff blowups" it was more a case of being hung out to dry by the rest of the team. Every goalie has a point where they "just snap" when the team in front of them plays carelessly and gives up too many odd-man breaks and, after this, they start letting softer goals out of frustration and despair. This happened to Fleury several times, particularly in the 2012 playoffs. However, technically speaking, I think he was not only the best Pens goalie ever but one of the best goalies to come into the league in the past 20 years. His only major weakness was puck handling.

Letang looked like Crosby last night on that goal .

Just want to show that the coaching staff has some confidence in JJ. My defense of him is just to show that he isn't the worst dman in the history of the game.

Having him play third pairing minutes and the occasional benching shows that the coaching staff doesn't care how much money you make. They only care about winning. And if you make the point that winning is the intent, then putting him out there protecting the lead gives credence to my objective.

- Thunderbolt

This made me think. I'm not sure there is a better option for a second pair defending a lead late than JJ. That's not why Schultz is on the team and while they can't push offense, that pair has been effective on the PK. Still, if we commit to Marino who's going to keep making aggressive mistakes, I think we really need to upgrade that spot and find someone better suited to covering for them.

There were some good quotes from Letang last night when asked why he had the confidence to be so aggressive on that goal and he said it's because he knows Dumoulin is so good at reading those plays and backing him up. He then mentioned another aggressive attempt that didn't work but Dumoulin snuffed out.

It would be good to get that for the 3rd pair. Marino is a rookie playing an aggressive style that is going to leave his partner in some bad spots. I'm not confident in JJ covering for those.

There's a place within a mile from me that sells wagyu and akaushi steaks called Tri-County Meat Market. Most of the time I eat keto so I am at that place at least twice a week. Though expensive, I still get those two types of ribeyes weekly! I love to grill.

Fair enough. We all knew JJ on the first goal and that play by Simon were going in the blog. It was a nice play by Simon, but didn't need that much attention.

Working in San Antonio. There's a Torchy's about 5 miles from my house. I will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
- Brayn

Torchy's was easily my favorite eats in Austin.
Tacodeli is good too.
Black's BBQ has awesome beef ribs too.
Rudi's BBQ is okay but their creamed corn is (frank)ing insane.

I'm not sure if all of those are across texas though.

When I was in Laredo we ate Rudy's quite often. I loved the moist brisket. Black's is a place I've driven by, but haven't tried yet.

(frank) that. It's not a real wagyu burger. It's wangus (wagyu angus mix). No sane restaurant owner is going to make true wagyu into a burger. It's a waste of meat and money.

All good points and I agree. I was convinced that getting a LD in the off season and preseason was the number one priority. I remain convinced that is still the top priority. I do think that Johnson's play isn't so bad that it needs to be done at the expense of a first round pick or a roster player.

They were insane. I was only in Austin for 2 days and I had to go back before I went to the airport and throw another rib in my luggage. hahaha

I think Simon is ideal there. Would be nice if he could score for sure, but if he could do all that he would be better on a weaker line for balance. Line 1 already has Sid and Jake to score. Hopefully Simon can pot a couple along the way and otherwise just keep those 2 in the o-zone.

Nobody feels Simon is an AHLer masquerading as an NHL player. The question is where does he belong and at what price. He has value at $750K, but where does that value end? He is still an RFA but can become a UFA next year if he goes to arbitration and signs a one year deal.

He has a real opportunity here to cash in playing with the top line. Let's see how he does before we proclaim him a demi-god.

Thank you! It's like people didn't see the entire team meltdown. Who gets bad numbers over that? The goalie. I think he's a better goalie than Murray. You take Murray at the expansion draft because he's good enough and significantly younger.

Even with the goal set aside, this was Letang's best game. He was very solid in his decision making, and showing up on the scoresheet never hurts. It's really cool when it's not a secondary assist on the PP for making a 10' pass.

Hornqvist is looking like he did at the start of last year. If he would have been traded, like so many people were calling for all summer, The Pens would NOT be where they are now. From Game 1, he's been influential af.

Cold and unfriendly? I'd say I'm pretty close. My general point is that they aren't warming to him because they're only paying attention to one single stat.

There are different kinds of Wagyu like the article states. I buy American Wagyu from Snake River Farms. Their Wagyu is certified from a 100 percent Wagyu but raised in the United States. I get the hamburger and it Cooks extremely different than regular Angus beef.
To your point though, there is lots of restaurants that claim Wagyu but do not certify it because they cross with Angus.

Anthony Bourdain once did this video of things he hates and places that have wagyu sliders were one of them. If said if you see those on a menu just walk out. lol
