Keep in mind I've only had about a half a cup of coffee this morning, but I'm finding it hard to understand how firing the coach would make the Leafs a harder team to play against.

Is Babcock telling guys not to throw checks?

- Atomic Wedgie

Firing Babcock means attention then turns to Dubas.

Once the new coach fails, Dubas will get the sack.

New GM actually understands that the Leafs don't need offence coming out of the wazoo.

New GM brings in some guys that aren't soft.

Leafs are a harder team to play against.

Firing Babcock = Leafs are harder to play against.

So......

Apparently the XFL just had their draft (no, I swear, I'm not making this up - there's an article in the Athletic!).

Perhaps the worst team names in the history of sport.

Dallas Renegades

DC Defenders

Houston Roughnecks

Los Angeles Wildcats

New York Guardians

Seattle Dragons

St. Louis BattleHawks

Tampa Bay Vipers

I don't hate the Seattle Dragons. Everything else is just generic crap.

And soooooo open to ridicule.

The Houston Rednecks!

DC CAN'T Defenders!

And what the frank is a BattleHawk?!?!?!

To appease the Debbie Downer Patrol, I will say that the Leafs have only won 24 of their last 50 regular season games, one ahead of the Oilers.

Do we blow it up or do we blow each other? The time has cum to decide.

- gravyface

Im not sure this would appease the debbie downers as much as it should serve as a reality check for the koolaid drinkers.

Is the XFL rigged or is it real sports like the WWE?

I seriously don't undersand what that league is about.

Yep. Guys like babs have hardons for guys like ceci.

All the physical tools, but not enough hockey sense to put it all together.

- Tumbleweed

wait- so now all of a sudden it's Babcock's fault for having no other options than Ceci? that's a management issue, not Babcock's fault.
(Apparently Dubas and co weren't happy with Babcock personally assuring that Mikheyev would chose the Leafs to play for, since that wasn't a 'coach's responsibility'..)

In a nutshell:

The NFL makes a bajillion dollars.

So there are plenty of guys out there who think that if they trot out a poopy football league that doesn't compete (time-wise) with the NFL, they can probably make a quarter of a bajillion dollars.

By the way, Donald Trump killed the USFL. There's a great 30 for 30 on it.

Although I might add that every single franking 30 for 30 is excellent.

No, it's not Babs fault that Ceci is on the team.. However, Babcock does get to decide on who plays and how much playing time they get though.

He's been having troubles, especially vs fast teams like Tampa, Hurricanes and the Leafs.

At this point, I would try Rielly and Barrie on the top pair and I would bring Sandin back up

Rielly-Barrie
Muzzin-Ceci
Sandin-Holl

Can't afford Sandin once Hyman and Dermott are back. Would need a trade to facilitate.

that topline is as much a defensive liability as any other.
in addition, poor Muzzin.

Leafs need to trade a winger for a d-man - it's been very clear since over a season.
