I thought Raffl, Niskanen, JVR had solid games, did they do well advanced stat wise?
- ClaudeFather

JVR relatively solid. Niskanen sort of. Raffl not so much.

We need to have a conversation about Tyler Pitlick. He's been beyond useless. Either he's still behind the 8-ball after missing camp, or he just forgot how to play hockey. Either way, he simply shouldn't be in the lineup right now. I'd rather have both Fletcher's Son and Bunny in the lineup over him.

I don't agree with that at all. The role players on this team are not the issue.

He can skate. I believe I’ve yet to see him shoot a puck.

He’s a veteran presence though so unless he brings a gun out onto the ice, look for him to continue to be a staple in the lineup.

IM with MJL on this..
To this point in the season I havent had an issue with the 3 and 4th line players...its pretty much all of the top 6 not named TK that aren't delivering.

Kinda weird looking at him as veteran presence when he's got fewer career NHL games under his belt than TK and Provorov.

Just talking about the statistical record (see the post I quoted). Guy had three shots on net, 2 individual scoring chances, and 1 individual high danger scoring chance. He was on the ice for one of Hayes' high danger chances too.

On a night where the rest of the team (save for G and Hayes) were creating basically nothing, it stands out as being relatively solid.

Clearly the biggest issue with the team right now. Even with that said, they win tonight and they start the season 3-1-1 on the road. Technically the Hawks game was a home game but not really.

Yeah, but Raffl has been doing a lot on the ice.

You're talking about the Calgary game? I only saw the first two periods but Giroux was horrendous in that game up until that point. He has had a very poor start to the season.

He drew a penalty drawn and played OK defensively, but his line did next to nothing offensively.

Remember, we're just talking about the stat-sheet.

you're telling me that he is on pace for 20 points after a 4 game sample size.

Im telling you he was on pace last year for 64 points over a 41 game sample size.

which sample size holds more weight?

Neither

Talking about just the stat sheet is a parameter you can apply if you want. That's not a good way to evaluate a player under any context.

One poster sets the parameters for an open discussion? You're clearly giving an opinion.

so you find it moronic to use pace when its G and Voracek in question, but you can still use the on pace argument to say Hayes is only on pace for 20?

uhhhh, what?!?

- sjk540

I am pointing out that "being on pace" is moronic. Using it to state your case that Hayes is a 60+ point a season center is moronic. You use the "on pace for" argument to prop up the fact that a 50 point guy is getting 7.1M a year for the next 7 years.

Has Kevin Hayes ever eclipsed 60 points in any singular NHL season?

Until that answer is yes you can say he is on pace for being prime minister of Canada, the pope and the King of England. They all hold the same weight.

He asked if stats backed up his personal observations on Raffl, JvR and Niskanen. I answered. And you interrupted.
