Hyman can get back in the lineup as soon as next week (10 games) so it'll be interesting to see where Coach puts Moore. Likely back to 4th line with the Goat.

Anybody else like Timashov? Admittedly I haven't been watching that closely but every time I see him he's finishing checks and forechecking hard. Not sure he's done enough to bump Shore/Spezza from the picture though. Petan is out ....

He's been fine.. really limited opportunity and ice time though. Not good enough to get noticed, not bad enough to be Marincin.

Moore will probably move to the 4th line, which sucks because he's been playing really well with Kerfoot and now Tavares.

My guess;

Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Kapanen
Moore-Gauthier-Shore/Spezza

I think Timashov is pushed out of the lineup

Good problems to have.

I hope Babcock does some rotations though. Even if it's every week or couple of weeks. I feel part of the problem the Leafs had late last year was due to injury they were forced to play guys who hadn't played a game in weeks or months. Dubas could have easily told Babcock there's no trade deadline with the salary cap so get guys up to speed.

I would guess Moore takes Johnsson's place on the 2nd line with Matthews.

I'm guessing that Hyman will be eased slowly back into the lineup, so this is a problem we can kick down the road a little.

Is he really ready to come back soon? I haven't heard anything.

reading the posts last night when the Leafs were down 1-0 was pretty interesting.

the range of emotions some fans go through and the anger that quickly boils is fascinating

It's a minimum 10 games on ltir so it's all hypothetical. Sounds like he'll be a little longer than that.

Dermott sounds closer to a return. Working backwards I'd guess that Ceci gets a few more weeks to prove his worth with Rielly before talk turns to whether Dermott should get elevated to that spot (if he's playing well). Leafs need to see if they have that partner for Rielly before the trade deadline.

I like Dermott.

I hope Dermott continues to develop.

But Dermott got about 17 minutes of ice per game last year.

He's nowhere near ready for 1st paring minutes.

I know I'm a bit in the minority, but for whatever reason I'm not that hooked on Dermott, like most here... I don't see him as a top 4 guy, hope I'm wrong.

He's way more ready for 1st pairing minutes than Ceci though.

Best 4 d-men for Toronto are Rielly-Muzzin-Barrie-Dermott.

Washington throwing their backup in tonight too.

Could be a high scoring game.

Don't be fooled.

Holtby has looked horrible since the season started while young Samsonov is looking sharp.

If anything, you're facing their best goaltender right now.

I think it is also 24 days AND 10 games. So oct 26th I think is his last day. I read this somewhere. I can't see him playing top minutes right away.

Also, the line up will be dictated depending on who gets sent down to take his contract off LTIR.

Samsonov has looked good so far, and Leafs always make backup goalies look like hall of famers.. Kinda wish Holtby was starting to be honest

2nd line has to make the difference for the Leafs tonight.
Let's hope Matthews and Nylander, Johnsson are up for the task.
(I'm saying 2nd line has to make the difference since other lines seem quite on same level as Leafs lines)

Love how you're calling Matthews's line the 2nd line. It's subtle but efficient.

You're so much better at this than me.

Max would be heartbroken if Hyman ever skated on the 3rd line, has to make sure we all know Hyman is a first line winger..

I am assuming Babcock would like Tavares - Marner to match up against Ovi and Backstrom.. In any case to me it's clear Tavares-Marner line is Toronto 1st line.
