At some point, I'm leery to break up lines that are working just to try and get the 1 that's not going.

At some point, they may need to shake things up because other start to struggle, but for right now I think we need to take the approach of "if it's not broken, don't fix it."

- HonkFortheGoose

I’m ok with that too
But it’s not like we wouldn’t be able to move Sam back with Jack whenever
It’s not like it would take them long at all to regain the chemistry they clearly have

Very true. The Larsson/Girgs/Okposo line has managed to get on the board a few times and is currently creating alllllllllllll sorts of problems most nights for the other team. Even the shifts they don't score they're hemming the opposition into their own zone. Don't have to worry about the other team scoring if they're not in your end.

Kinda crazy to say this, but...
Girgs-Larsson-Okposo has been our best even strength line imo

They start a crazy amount in our own end,
yet get the puck out & play in the other end for most of the time

They’ve been really good

*this is all going by the eye test,
I haven’t checked their fancy stats

That could get Vesey going with Jack,
and Mitts going with Sam
Not a bad idea

Could even try Sheary/E Rod up with Jack,
then do Vesey-Mitts-Sam
Hard to imagine that line not doing well

Roll the 3 lines pretty evenly
Can always move Sam back up with Jack if we need a goal late

- jdfitz77

Why mix anything up? Keep this rolling. Let some of these players figure it out on their own. Skinner did. I didn't expect him to score with Sobotka.
Sabres haven't made the playoffs in 7 years. We don't need to try new things right now. Keep winning and 95% of the players are happy. The other 5% can go.

I think it partly has to do with having defensemen that can actually make an outlet pass as well. The upgrades on D can't be stressed enough.

I would put ERod on waivers and bring up Tage, see what the Kid can do on LW with Mitts. Erod is not gonna get claimed( Well be surprised if he did)

I think I am okay with him playing two out of every three this early in the season, regardless of result, barring a shutout.

Bc the Mitts line isn’t scoring & we are depending on a PP rate that will certainly regress

Like i said before...
if moving Sam to line3 doesn’t help,
we can always put him back with Jack

For the most part, I believe the advanced stats say the Sabres are elite defensively and just above average offensively.

Some improved 5v5 scoring would go a long way to making them really dangerous.

As would another impact forward (Taylor Hall please).

We don’t HAVE to right now,
bc the PP has been so good

But if that drops down to the more reasonable rate of 20-25%
The we are gonna need scoring from that Mitts line

I agree with the back to back. But in situations like the Columbus game ride hutton since he is your starter till he loses.
This is the first b2b of the season
He should be able to handle the load other than the b2b going forward

Love the player, but...

He’ll be 29 a couple months into year 1 of his new contract with us
Which will be huge
Plus Jersey won’t trade him for scraps

This is what I think needs to happen more than just juggling the lines up with the guys we have.

Erod is clearly not the answer on line 3 and while Sobotka isn't hurting us, having a more impactful player in his spot would be nice.

The league in general is moving away from using backups that way though. Gone are the days where the starting goalie plays 70 games.

I think you'll see more of a 60/40 split, and I don't have a problem with that. Ullmark has done all you could want from him especially when you factor in that the two games he got he faced over 40 shots each game.

Everyone loved ERod last year... now he is dead weight. Crazy...

Cap World is tough. 2 of this group Sobotka, Sheary, Vesey or ERod, Scandella are out unless they figure it out. Girgs and Larry stay b/c cap hit is reasonable.
BoGo is a cap issue when he returns. Not sure he is tradeable until he gets some ice time. Montour replaces Joki who gets sent down.

Currently at the train station in Albany to go to Boston for work. Just hate driving in Boston. The people watching here is FANTASTIC.

His speed was deceiving. He was basically someone who went full bore on a team that was a step behind just about the entire season.

I mean, I noticed his speed last year. The issue is that he just doesn't have the offensive acumen to really do anything with the chances he creates.

He's had horrendous starts this season and last. Last year, when he snapped out of it, he saw 2nd line minutes. That's unlikely to happen this year.
