You're going to get criticized for your criticism of Hayes but its completely valid. He isn't a guy that is going to put up huge point totals. He is effective at controlling the puck, winning puck battles, and being defensively sound. Also, his contract will most likely be a burden as the years start to tick away.

I'm certainly not writing the guy off since the season just started, but there are questions as to whether or not it was a good signing which can only be answered over the coming years.

I don’t think it’s working (Hayes line) and said so yesterday. No chemistry. I do think Hayes could center Lindblom and TK and not mess up the chemistry they have developed.

Not that I wouldn’t love for it to suddenly click.

lindblom flying tonight. never though i would post those words. he really did improve his skating over summer. keep him, tk, and coots together. let the pld guys figure out themselves. coots is no panacea for lagging vets. more icing than the tastykake bakery.

Absolutely. It’s not just a concern to me that Hayes isn’t producing. I think he’s being used way beyond his ability. We have much more skilled players to fill these roles but instead we’re forcing something that’s not there. First line center, first unit PP role.

My expectations for Hayes is 2C and 50-55 points. I get trying to balance the lines and actually I've always been a big fan of it. But, right now, the current top line just isn't cutting it. No one is cutting it tonight. Feel bad for Elliott right now.
