It’s not that easy to write something so incredibly confusing that you truly can’t tell if you’re horrible with sarcasm, high, or just not all there in the head. Hell, maybe it’s all 3...but I’ll never be sure. Well done my friend. You’ve got me stumped. I’ve read it over like 4 times and I still can’t tell which one it is.

Unfortunately, they can’t replicate Crosby’s vision, understanding everything about the immediate on-ice situation, the ability to see two (three? four?) moves ahead....

That’s what separates the Orrs, Gretzkys, Lemieux, Kanes from the pack. We’ll see if the Matthews, McDavids, Mackinnons et.al have / can develop it.

The rest have to become responsible 200 foot players who contribute where they can.

Valid points.

What Crosby does is come out pretty much every night to be the best player on the ice and in the game.

And he makes alot of very average players much better than they really are. Check out some of the wingers he has played with in his career.

Everyone gets so caught up in speed, i like speed but to me it's the guys who have such good hands and can play in tight spaces. Like Kane's goal the other night 1 shot to make a goal by the left dot and buries it, Crosby does this so well as a center, best in the league and he has some size as well. That goal of his last night was a thing of beauty. Toews doesn't have the hands to do that, very few do.

Toews used to have the hands and tight-space ability and tenacity - if not all at Crosby-level, at least we’ll above average.

Pretty sure he doesn’t have them now like he did in his younger days. Even in his resurgent season last year, he had a different game than he had 6-8-10 years ago.

Time passes - attributes change - let’s hope he regains the ability to be top-line productive.

Toews will be fine, he did have some of these skills but not at that level at least that's just my opinion and i guess you said that

I agree Toews is (was) an elite player and leader, but Crosby's skills are that much better. Crosby has been under the microscope since he was a kid because of his elite talent and being Canadian, similar to when MacDavid first burst onto the scene as a kid.

Toews I don't think should have ever have been thought have as a 90-100 point player. He is exactly what scouting reports said, excellent all-around player, fantastic leadership skills, and a desire level off the charts. Has Toews slipped in recent years. yes, but he also has given the Hawks exactly what they wanted, a true number one center for over a decade that has been considered the greatest leader in all pro sports. Tough for me to hear people rag on the Captain!!

I am not ragging on him, just noting that Crosby is more skilled. Of course I love Toews and all he has meant to the organ-i-zation.

Screw his scoring - he’s a hockey player, and a good one - he’ll score.

His salary takes up at least two spots in a hard cap people have to rag. No place for "thanks for the memories" in this NHL.

Keith, in his prime, was the class of the entire league.

No he didn't put up points the way EK, Burns, and even Letang did at their peaks, but his game was so well-rounded that you'd be hard-pressed to find a d-man who did as much, and at the level that Keith did.

In a hard salary cap era and a aging and extremely highly paid core , if Chicago has any intentions of 1 last cup run this would be the year and last option with this group.

Seabrook paired with maatta seems to have made him look better.

Teams have all passed Chicago bye with younger , faster players.

Seabrook let's be honest here either retires a Blackhawk or ends up getting bought out in 2 years .

Chicago will have to free itself from these aging and highly paid core players in order to accomplish it's goal .

The aspect of Keith as a mentor might have been a great thought but look at the amount of defenseman who played here and ended up being traded or not resigned.

- Taylorst1

It's been written before check it out buying out Seabs saves nothing. It's trade or die and I don't think he's walking away from 7 big ones a year.

Schmaltz already has 3 goals, so that's another loss for Bowman. When will it ever end?
- Dieselhead

As soon as Strome has a better year which I think will be every year.

This is a similar scouting report for the recently drafted Turcotte. Likely won’t put up huge numbers but his drive, leadership, and compete level will be what define him most if he hits potential.
