Can't stand him, but that #87 on PIT is pretty good.

Yeah, I think we can put the Crosby vs. Toews debate to rest now.

Guadette was the Center, playing in Vancouver.
- LAHawk

I wouldn't mind Stan trying the snag Gaudette from Vancouver for 3C or 4C.

Brandon Manning just scored for Edmonton in his first game of the season. Caggiula has 0 points in 4 games.

Another failed trade by Bowman.

Keith is his prime was every bit as good offensively as Doughty IMO.
- SimpleJack

Keith, in his prime, was the class of the entire league.

No he didn't put up points the way EK, Burns, and even Letang did at their peaks, but his game was so well-rounded that you'd be hard-pressed to find a d-man who did as much, and at the level that Keith did.

I want Keith to play his entire career for the Blackhawks. Players don’t often play for just one team, it would be nice to see Keith do that.

Keith at his worst is still an extremely useful player.

I'd be perfectly happy seeing him end his career as a #5/#6 here in Chicago. Three more years at a $5.5M cap hit is perfectly palpable for the Hawks.

Going into the season I had the Central looking like:
1-2 STL/DAL
3 NSH
4-6 CHI/COL/WIN
7 MIN

The more I see COL, the more I think they're going to run away with the conference if they stay healthy.

- tvetter

Presidents trophy banner for them...followed by 1st round knockout by the Hawks = PERFECT.

Why? Crosby has had a fine start to this season. He has more career goals than Toews (even though he's never had the same 2 way game as JT). Don't be so down on Crosby, give him another year or two in the league before judging his career. I'm guessing he could someday catch Toews stats and accomplishments.

It’s not that easy to write something so incredibly confusing that you truly can’t tell if you’re horrible with sarcasm, high, or just not all there in the head. Hell, maybe it’s all 3...but I’ll never be sure. Well done my friend. You’ve got me stumped. I’ve read it over like 4 times and I still can’t tell which one it is.

In a hard salary cap era and a aging and extremely highly paid core , if Chicago has any intentions of 1 last cup run this would be the year and last option with this group.

Seabrook paired with maatta seems to have made him look better.

Teams have all passed Chicago bye with younger , faster players.

Seabrook let's be honest here either retires a Blackhawk or ends up getting bought out in 2 years .

Chicago will have to free itself from these aging and highly paid core players in order to accomplish it's goal .

The aspect of Keith as a mentor might have been a great thought but look at the amount of defenseman who played here and ended up being traded or not resigned.

Crosby is the best two way player in the league & has been for five years.
McDavid has more speed & flash but Crosby has been the best NHL player since Bobby Orr.

Unfortunately
Crosby & Pittsburgh like Chicago are not winning another Cup with these Cores from the good old days.

Sorry, a fellow named Wayne Gretzky, and another one named Mario Lemieux were better NHL players than Crosby since Bobby Orr.

I don't blame Keith for that. As Keith's play has diminished as he's aged it has been Stan's job to find an adequate replacement so Keith can slide down the depth chart while still bringing all those great intangibles. However, Stan hasn't been able to accomplish that. Maybe the likes of Beaudin, Krys, Vlasic, Mitchell or Boqvist will develop into top d-men, but that's far from a guarantee.

Far from a guarantee, but for the first time in a long time, I'm excited about our defensive prospects! When is the last time we had this many players that could legitimately be looked at as top 4 quality?

He did say last 5 years not in history.

To me Crosby is the ultimate superstar grinder who has recovered from serious concussion history. He isn't particularly exciting on ice but delivers his best almost every night.

Players like Austin Matthews, Tyler Seguin, Hughes, Dach and many others would do well by emulating Crosby's game.

"Crosby has been the best NHL player since Bobby Orr."

I think Bobby retired before Gretzky and Mario.

Unfortunately, they can’t replicate Crosby’s vision, understanding everything about the immediate on-ice situation, the ability to see two (three? four?) moves ahead....

That’s what separates the Orrs, Gretzkys, Lemieux, Kanes from the pack. We’ll see if the Matthews, McDavids, Mackinnons et.al have / can develop it.

The rest have to become responsible 200 foot players who contribute where they can.

Schmaltz already has 3 goals, so that's another loss for Bowman. When will it ever end?

Yea i don't know, a little dramatic to say this is it their final year to win anything.

The league didn't pass us by, we had to play AHLers because of the cap

And Bowman just keeps finding these gems like Panarin, Kahun, Kubalik

In 2 to 3 years he's done a real nice job of putting talent back into the minor league system that he depleted to win championships.

In 1 year with cap space he's made this team harder to play against, in 1 year.

Watching a lot of hockey this year and honestly a lot of teams look like poop, Avs were nothing special last night, they might make ther playoffs but their AHL goalies won't cut it in the playoffs.
