Yes, we can. He was set up to fail. Or the Pens were asked for a demonstration of 44 on the wrong side for an unnamed GM.

I think his days are numbered and sadly before JJ.

It's painfully obvious what everyone here thinks about 3 and 44... I'd LOVE to know what the sentiment is towards these two guys inside closed doors.

I personally am happy with how Guds has performed in his role. That being said I’m not happy with him at his price in his role.

You can get the same caliber for half the price, but I’d be much happier overpaying for Guds if they weren’t already overpaying for JJ.

Every team in the league has at least one overpayment. It’s just whether or not you’re at least getting positive play and they’re not getting that from JJ.

Rino but let’s be honest about Jacko’s play so far this season. He’s been pretty decent. Off course he’s still overpaid for a 3rd pairing D guy and with too much term left in his contract.

I think trading Gudbranson this quickly looks poopty on GMJR. I thought the Pearson trade just a few month later looked equally bad. Personally, I don't think it is fair to the player, especially when he hasn't been a detriment to the team, to trade him after such a short stint, but business isn't fair.

I don’t care if he looks good for another ten games. I can guarantee you he will go back to his old ways. His 13 year career shows this. He’s not all of a sudden going to learn hockey.

He’s often trying to undue mistakes. It’s been a common theme the last few years.

I know. The good news is no move needs to be made for another 3 or so weeks given the LTIR situation.

Why break up Sid's line now? They are on a roll. Simon has great hockey IQ and does the little things well and keeps the line running. He's no liability. That's the best Sid's line has looked in quite a bit.

I'd stick Tanev with Malkin and Galchenyuk or even Rust.

- Barnaby36

It's actually nothing against Simon. I just feel they should use his abilities to drive a line to help prop up another line, not create a super possession line with Crosby and Letang, who are going to tilt the ice no matter who the RW is. I feel Malkin could use a guy like him.

Was reading today that Ollii Maatta has been paired with Seabrook and that the pairing is even worse than one would imagine.

I know McCann hasn't been lighting up and his stats aren't off the charts, but when you consider he's playing above his pay-grade I think he's doing a good job. At this point I'd be willing to see how McCann fares at 3C over Bjugstad.
- Rinosaur

I don't mind trying it at all. I don't have enough confidence in him to trade Bjugstad though. It's more of an offensive Line with McCann and a shutdown line with Bjugstad. But I have no problem trying McCann at 3C and Bjugstad as a top 6 RW.

This probably is going to get some flack, but everyone has Teddy plugged in at the 4th line center spot when he has been replaceable so far. I think he will be fine down the stretch, but at this point he might have to sit when everyone is healthy.
- burgh4life87

After Kahun, I agree he's been the weakest link. If Lafferty is effective at 4C, that might be a spot. Blueger is probably fine at 4C, but isn't showing much at 3C, even his goal was an ugly save attempt. So I agree.

Normally I’d be much more patient with Kahun, but when the dust settles if Lafferty continues to be effective and out-produce Kahun I’m all for moving him out if it helps the Pens make other moves or gets a decent asset in return.

I would prefer splitting up Letang and Crosby. Team Letang up with Malkin and Shultz with Crosby.

I am not a fan of Simon and think he is the benefactor of playing with Crosby rather than the other way around. I am waiting for us to play better defensive teams like Washington and Tampa Bay before I coronate Simon the greatest possession player in the game.

I was torn between Ovie and Skinner, but I like BUF’s schedule better.

I also toyed with a similar dman roster, but went cheap there as the risk.

Everyone is a benefactor when playing with Crosby in terms of increased production. He is Sidney freaking Crosby. But Sid produces more when with Simon so it is pretty clear that it is the penguins best line 1 option.

Also, both teams you mentioned are not doing well defensively this season.

Those numbers certainly don’t line up with the eye test for either player IMO.

ZAR has his first standout game points wise and we were still dumping on him most of the game.

Marino makes a lot of subtle plays to retain possession and buy time until he can outlet. Jesse Marshall has been documenting his gap control and entry denials. He reminds me of Simon with the puck. He doesn’t Rush and try’s to make smart plays.

That was by far Guddy’s worst outing. He was awful last night.

- Thorny87

Matches up with what I saw with ZAR. I completely agree with RW, he's been fine, just needed to score a goal. If he continues to be a strong possession player and puts up 12-15g an 25-30 points in a bottom 6 role while killing penalties and adding some physical play, that's 1M well spent and the type of guy you want to keep around when they're forced to shave salary this off-season.
