Why is Wood on the 2nd line, why is Bratt on the 4th line, why is Rooney still on this team, why is Hynes still the coach?! |

"I thought as the game continued to go on we played pretty well".
Why no sustained pressure? "Well we had it in the 2nd and 3rd. I thought we managed the puck well, were hard on the puck, we moved it low to high, we had a shot mentality, got it to the net 4 grade-A chances inside. Rask made big saves. We gotta stay persistent, and do the right things, and do them more consistently".
Happy with some of the adjustments on the PP? "yea, we shot the puck more and had some good looks. Took a step in the right direction, wasn't a good enough step in the sense in that it scored a goal. We did have some good looks. some of the mentality changes, it still needs work.. trying to make the highest skilled play possible. We have some guys that are new to the league.. it's not going to be some silly tic tac toe play."
"continue to work at it. last 2 games we were pretty good 5 on 5. Get back to work tomorrow and worry about the next game".
Do you guys agree with Hynes? I didn't watch the game. |

2 goals in three road games. 15 against. That's bad!
Especially since Hughes has looked noticeably better the last few games, I'd like to see them try him with Hall and Palms.
Hall - Hughes - Palms
Gusev - Nico - Bratt
Coleman - Zajac - Simmonds
Wood - Zacha - Boqvist
Maybe? I mean when you're 0-3-2 try anything. Get Rooney off the ice and put Boqvnist in. Wood, for all the crap he's gotten from the fan base, has been creating some chances and doesn't deserve to be benched. Gusev and Bratt clearly have skill but they need a skilled but defensively responsible center, either Nico or Zacha. It IS still early but we won't be able to keep saying that much longer.

I've been a big Hynes supporter over the last few years, never felt he had a lot to work with, but I think its time to move on from him and the rest of the staff. |

Questioning personnel decisions when your choice are Brett Seney and Drew Stafford doesn't really matter. When your GM gives you a bunch of very clear upgrades ready to go for the season and this is what you come up with, you have to think coaching is part of the problem here. Special teams is nothing but a disaster and 5v5 play hasn't been much better either. |

Agreed, if they can’t win at least 3 of their next 6 (all home) then i could see Hynes be let go. |

Yup. And the thing that convinces me we need a change is that there has been no pushback from the team. We were embarrassed 3 times in a row and the best we could come up with after was a game that was a "step in the right direction." They can't even come out flying for one period to show that the team that blew a 4 goal lead, or the team that got blown out 7-2, or the team that got dominated 4-0, is not what this team is about. |

To be honest we could probably use some new assistants too. |

No. I thought we looked better against Edmonton and there isn’t any real improvement in play. It’s just a mess and outside of passing it back for the zone entry on the PP, I have no idea what they’re trying to do. It’s just a mess.
Wood was better and while watching him bang his head into a wall is ugly the effort is there and he can push back a little.
It’s not really that there is no effort but more it looks like there is no system or plan of attack. To many guys trying to do it alone.
Rooney is an AHLer. He tries but just doesn’t belong in this game until injuries require it. We’d probably be better if with McLeod centering the 4th but Boqvist should be getting playing time. It’s just criminal they kept him to be a scratch. |

It’s just a weak brand of hockey. I realize we aren’t a big team but they look soft. |

The Devils' losing streak is not the fault of Jack Hughes or any other individual player or size. John Hynes' system just isn't working, pittsburgh fans warned us of this back when Hynes first signed. |
