It's honestly mind blowing with the talent we have in 4 or 5 players (maybe even 6 or 7) that management decided to fill the roster out with lesser versions of those players.

If you start with a blank piece of paper with Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Rielly and Andersen on it, how can you not put together a team that actually looks solid, can play the physical game with speed and not crumble whem pressurized?

I think the Leafs look very solid on paper.

It’s up to the players now, Dubas put together a great and soft team.

He hasn't been that bad. He really hasn't. He needs to be better, but picking him as a scapegoat is just the fun thing to do. He's being hyper-analyzed because they're playing against Point who was a comparable and doing really well tonight.
You guys will get over it by next week.

Picking him as the scapegoat?

All I’m doing is pointing out he has been crap 5v5 and it’s disappointing given the contract he just signed.

Big contracts often bring big pressure to live up to them.

He's been meh, I don't disagree. But when people are afraid to call out the Captain for not producing and actually say Marner needs to be sat for games, it's excessive.
There is a lot of under-performing players right now, I just find the load unnecessarily Marner-heavy, that's all.

Right?

I’d like to be a fly on wall when Dubas was pitching the Kadri trade to Shanny. I wonder if the topic of physicality came up? “Y’know Kyle, maybe removing the toughest player we have and replacing him with Tyson Barrie isn’t helping us much in areas we lack”

I doubt he said that, Shanny was and probably still is a Prima Donna..

Yeah

The GM should be responsible for a 2-1-1 start.

Through him in jail.

I like the Trade... as long as we can resign Barrie to a good deal. However, with Dubas at the helm that is unlikely.

What we need is some beef on this team to balance the skill...

No he isn’t necessarily responsible for 2-1-1, but he is responsible for the softest Leaf team ever assembled.
