And they will give up a lot less the other way.

They are winning their matchups by leaps and bounds right now.

It’s ok to admit when you’re wrong. I was wrong too

Kyle Okposo is actually good right now

- OneKaneOneCup

That’s the main point right there

Either their haters can admit what’s going on...
or continue to stick their heads in the sand and keep their opinions based on the disappointments these guys were in the top9

It’s ridiculously obvious
They’re doing a really, really good job

I don't think there's really anything at all to complain about so far. I mean, it would only be polite to wait until a regulation loss to start pulling out our hair and inconsolably weeping in despair.

Lol. Dahlin is on pace for 40 EV points and over 100 points in general (he obviously won’t hit either mark)

Ristolainen looks like a 20 point average player off of PP1

- OneKaneOneCup

Again, if Risto had 3 secondary PP assists, which is almost half his point total, and 5 of 7 which is 71% you would be all over it saying how it doesn't matter, anyone can pass 10' to Eichel.

I'm not saying Dahlin isn't having a great offensive start, though he has gotten lazy at times and as a direct result at least 3 goals have gone in. I'm merely pointing out the double standard. It's a guy you like, so you look past it.

Yeah he’s been horrible this year
- he’s on pace for 115 points and a +33
-before tonight he hadn’t been on the ice for a goals against

miller and him have been an outstanding pair. Any other idiotic statements sabretoothless

2 assists in a game is the new terrible

- turbo044

Yes. He now has 2 EV points and 5 PP points. He is also starting in the Ozone 80% of the time and does not kill penalties. He may be on pace for 115 points, but he is on pace for app 120 PIM too. He is currently a forward playing in a defensive position without actually playing defense.

So in other words, he is a lock for the Norris.

Who saw that coming?

I'll admit, it's been nice seeing them score 3+ each of their first 4 games. Far too many 0 or 1 goal games over the last few years.

Minimum of 30 5 on 5 minutes

Expected goals for % ENTIRE NHL

1. Kyle Okposo
2. Johan Larsson
3. Zemgus Girgensons

ENTIRE NHL

- OneKaneOneCup

Well, this is hilariously funny.
Sure as far as shots and possession, absolutely.
But if the Stat really meant what it is titled as ; really EXPECTED GOALS, they would the last 3 in the NHL at zero, zip, zilch, nada, nothing...cause they simply can't score

It still amazes me that Sobotka has 0 points on that 2nd line.

Bingo!
Risto is proving me right when I said in the summer that he will get low 20's for points, and be a 2nd / 3rd pairing tweeter. He had some absolutely great hits last night!

Dahlin is a dynamo offensively.
He needs significant development in his D-zone play...it will come with time
Joker is playing pretty good, still needs development defensively as well.
Both are young and have lots of time to develop into studs...going to be fun to watch them and others improve.

The team is 3-0-1 and yet some are ragging on the third and fourth lines.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Never had a problem with Risto's Pts, no matter where they came from.
I have a huge problem with his defensive play where he continues to prove he is simply a defensive liability.
Furthermore, since the Sabres acquired Montour, Miller and Joker ... Risto's PP accumen has been replaced. Hence his point totals are going to fall significantly. It is reality, and it is happening.

Bundling it all up,
he is an asset with declining value as I stated back in July.
The faster they move him, the better off it will be.

They really need to
Move Mitts to RW with Kinner and Mojo
Drop Sobotka to either C or RW with Vesey
Put ERod at C or RW with Vesey and Sobotka.

VO-Jack-Sam
Skins-Mojo-Mitts
Vesey-ERod-Sobotka
Girgs-Larry-Okposso

And, might reward Okposso by switching hima nd Sanborn(DPR)

i think you can make a lowlight reel of sobotka single handedly ending offensive possessions last night

also almost the entire team was a mess in their own end

but i think montreal is one of the sneaky good teams and make a lot of teams look like that

It's only October when weird things happen in this league, but the Sabres currently have the 2nd best record in the league and the best goal differential in the league.

For those of the younger generation, who were not around to see Gilbert Perrault play live, consider Jack's 2nd goal as vintage Gilbert.
Take the puck deep in his own end, circling around to gain speed as he gathers the puck,
Moves out of his end continuing to build speed and dekes the 1st opposing player with ease, so graceful,
Crosses the red line, head up survey his attack approach,
Crosses the blue line where he is met by 1, 2 and 3 opposing players and controls the puck easily making them all look rather silly
.
.
.
At that point, the similarity ends...Jack rifles a bullet for the goal...
Gilbert normally beats the 3 defenders, breaks through and is 1:1 with the goalie...normally ends in another artful display beating the goalie rather badly, embarrassing actually.

Gilbert continues to be my favorite Sabre, and whom I would still rate as their greatest...with a very strong head nod to Dom...wish they could have played together...oh my!,,

Miller on the ice on the PP as the RD and not Risto. Interesting.

Nice win. Who cares if it was sloppy at times. Entertaining. 7 out of 8 points.

Keep it rolling.

I wouldn't break up 28-22-21.

Even though they aren't producing offensively, they are playing really well together.

I agree with shifting the rest of the lineup. Casey may need to get some offensive looks without the defensive responsibility.

ERod can set up players really well, so that could help Vesey.
