OR.....
it just means that the other lines (particularly
13-37-whoever) need to provide the acing in their ice time that 28-22-21 don’t

If the other 3 lines score like they SHOULD
Then that line playing well purely defensively is a help, and not a hindrance

I think you’re critical of the wrong players for not scoring enough

- jdfitz77

I'm not going to do this for another season. So many good things here.

Sobotka doesn't belong on line 2 at 16 minutes a night

Mojo is a blessing for this team. Get him help.

Larry shouldn't play 15 minutes a night.

Get the team help.

I think therein lies the issue.

Last year there was only one legitimate line. This year, the Sabres have at least two. The Larson line is effective in it’s role.

The problem is Mitt’s line needs to produce more.

Really digging the defense.

Miller on the ice on the PP as the RD and not Risto. Interesting.

Nice win. Who cares if it was sloppy at times. Entertaining. 7 out of 8 points.

Keep it rolling.

You can't play 15 minutes a night and never get a point.

I mean they can now, when the power play is clicking huge. But you cant play from behind that way.

But maybe Krueger would change it up if they're losing

Also Johansson and skinner are on their own line with Sobotka just there.

It’s incredible what those 2 players do playing down a man

Well if this were the only relevant metric why shouldn’t that line log the most ice time? I mean if expected goal percentage translates to actual goals sure.

But it hasn’t in this case.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re GREAT in their role, I like what they do.

I’d just like another line that has “skilled” players on it to start scoring more goals and adjust their ice time down to suit their role, which is to control possession, keep it out of the zone, and not let goals in.

But if they start chipping in some offense, by all means give them more ice time.

Married to points not perceived roles.

We won’t be behind if they’re controlling 70% of the expected goals.

They’re generating chances and they have a 5 on 5 goal.

They’re literally a 1/2 5 on 5 goal off pace for a good 3rd line.

We also won’t be winning if we’re counting on them for offense.

That’s not their role.

Again, if those chances start coming to fruition it’s a different story. I’d just like to see another line take some ice time away from them because they start scoring.

That’s a given. Larson and Girgs aren’t know for their shots or burying the puck.

Mitts is supposed to be an offensive weapon, he’s not there consistently yet. But if he could start driving a line, or get another line mate that can bury the puck, I’d like to see them win out ice time.

Meaning the team gets more goals so the Larson line can lock it down.

That’s the thing though.

You can give 22/28/21 the full defensive load, and they can shut it down + chip in here and there.

If this clip continues (it will slow down some) they absolutely will start cashing in

It's just great. Could not ask for more from him. Like you said, his calmness is great

-before tonight he hadn’t been on the ice for a goals against

miller and him have been an outstanding pair. Any other idiotic statements sabretoothless

I totally agree with feeding them minutes while we're winning.

I swear to god I agree they're playing well

That strategy won't work while playing from behind though. And I dont think we'll be leading a lot of games playing them 15 mins a night once the PP cools down.

xGF does not work with Larry and Girgs because while you can expect them to score, their hands prohibit them from doing so

Get. Help. A RW or another center

He was shown a lot of trust by being on the PK.
