I agree, Kapanen may find better success on the third line when Hyman returns. From the asset viewpoint, neither Hyman nor Kapanen nor Johnssson are what I would think are core - long term pieces. With the top heavy AAV for the core, Leafs will need to use these assets as future trading chips the keep the Cap under control.

I'm guessing Hyman will be a victim of the salary cap crunch, unless he wants to take a huge haircut.

If I can only keep one of those guys, I'd keep Johnsson.

Hyman doesn't need money, he will re-sign when his contract is up. 4 yr/$6.5M deal

HYman will be interesting. He may want too much for his skill level. If he goes and Babs is stlil here him and Dubas will never speak again

I've thought about it an awful lot over the past few years.

I'm kinda on Babs' side now.

There's only so much puck to go around. If you have two superstars on one line, they probably don't need a 3rd really good guy - because that guy won't see the puck enough.

Why not make your third line a scoring threat? If they can finish +1 every night, it gives you a better chance of winning the hockey game.

Why not play your best players enough?

It's interesting but Johnsson is probably less talented than Kapenen, but seems to be more willing to hang around the front of the opposing net. Not a bad thing to have when you have a few snipers.

Hyman absolutely needs to be kept. That line is poop without him.

I disagree and there are fancy stats that show 3 top talents on the same line can elevate each other. One of their examples:

Ratman - Bergeron - Pastrnak

I don't really have the fancy stats background and all I really could do is dig up the article as 'proof'.

So he's going to waltz into Dumbass' office and ask for the Labanc special?

I was amazed when I discovered Kapanen is 3 inches taller than Johnsson. I had assumed Johnsson was bigger.

Although they are roughly the same weight.

I'm sure they do. The question is by how much?

Because if you drop a high-skilled guy to the 3rd line, he's going to elevate the play of the 3rd line. Does that give you a bigger bump than on the 1st line?

It's a question that can only be answered this June.

You need to know a bit of background here. Let's just say, his family has money and he's done ok outside of hockey. Successful writer of children's books, had a 4.0 GPA at Michigan where he learned to hockey from Red Berenson. And he probably had different Leaf pyjamas for every day of the week.

Stay safe, people.

Apparently this is the new thing in phishing. They get you to give some information, they plug it into your account, you are sent a text message with a verification code, and they ask for that verification code - and boom, they have access to your accounts.

It's amazing how people use intellect to cheat and be a$$holes rather than use the talent combine it with some work. I haven't seen this one yet but continue to get two calls a day on my cell from India to sell me duct cleaning services. I know the stiff on the other end is a desparate starving person phishing for some other pr!ck, still have a hard time not swearing at them.

I get text alerts saying my business or personal debit card is disabled and then send a link. I usually just delete the text and then continue using my card. I’ve never had any issues.

I take it a step further and forward a copy of the text to the RCMP, then delete.
