So nice to see the Oilers take a player who was miscast in the wrong role on another team, especially when that team was the Flames, after mismanaging so many young players in the past by putting them either over their head on the first line too early or, like the Flames with Neal, putting them too far down the lineup in a checkers role when they are scorers. I'll always believe they ruined Nail Yakupov, that kid could score and loved the game so much until they buried him on the 3rd and 4th lines. When the trade for Neal was made everyone said it was so they could buy him out after this year but I said he'll just be able to play up to make it a very reasonable contract the Oilers should want to keep.

I dont think anyone said they just got him so they can buy him out. It was just stated that if it didn't work out here that at least buying him out was an option unlike the Lucic deal.
