So Vesey, who has done nothing is rewarded by a move up to line 2 and Okposo who has played quite well is kicked out of the lineup? Interesting

Vesey has as many even strength points as Eichel this season

I was actually agreeing with you.

Everyone was complaining about the shootout because it was a "gimmick". The solution was 3-on-3 overtime, which is actually just as much of a gimmick if not more.

A yes I see. And now we later gimmicks on gimmicks.

Foligno is the definition of work-ethic beating skill.

ECHL knew that was on him as soon as it happened. Lazy play, move on and learn from it.

We stole a pointmon the road, take it and move on

The #NHLJets have granted Dmitry Kulikov a personal leave from the team. As a result, he has been designated as a 'Non-Roster Player'.

During that time, he will not count against the clubs active 23-man roster, but his cap hit will continue to count against the clubs salary cap. https://t.co/4WihHVai8U

Vesey has been solid on the PK and defensively. You people are blind. No way you sit him.

if all casey is going to be, is a third line center, when do you sell?
- homiedclown

When/if Asplund takes his job.
If not, Asplund on the 4th wouldn't be a bad thing, as it means Sabres are strong down the middle.
Keeping young cost controlled 3C is a good problem to have.

Eichel was gassed. might be time to rethink the OT personnel to get more than 2 combos that could work

Eichel-Reinhart-Risto

Skinner-Dahlin-Miller (I know this is a Disco dan thing, but Dahlin wouldn't really be playing D here)

Mojo-Mitts-McCabe (more ice for Mitts to use his hands. Both alternate captains out at once)

I think Mitts needs a run on the wing.

Many other teams start their young "centers" on the wing to get the confidence up.

Sabres have 22 pim not counting the 10 minute misconduct. Vesey played less than 6 minutes of the PK. He is also starting in the Ozone 72% of the time so far. The worst Corsi on the team and 2nd worst Fenwick.

I wouldn't neccesarily say he's been solid. However, playing him in Sobotka spot could help improve his game and the 2nd line while not hurting the 3rd line.

I am not ready to run Vesey out of town yet. He hasn’t looked that bad. Beside, a week ago this was a throwaway season where trying out guys like him on the cheap was worthwhile. Now we go 2-0-1 and it’s win now?

I feel the Sabres rushed Mittelstadt because they were desperate for center help. A coach desperate to save his job, backed up by a franchise desperate to end a decade of losing.

This is nothing new for the Sabres. They have done this since the end of the Lindy Ruff era. They have been so desperate to fill holes on the roster that they have rushed many players into the NHL at the cost of their own development.

Casey would have benefited from playing a key role with big minutes down in Rochester where he could have the ice time and game experience to work on improving his skill and conditioning. It would be better than playing ten minutes a night and stagnating.

It might be too late now, this should have been done last year. At this point it would seem punitive and might shake his confidence and strain his loyalty to the franchise.

Who’s next? Will they rush Cozens up at the cost of his development? Who knows. All I can say is that it has happened too many times in the last decade and needs to stop.

Not all players are NHL ready at 18 and 19 years old. Just because some are, doesn’t mean they all are. Mittelstadt might be the next on the list of Sabres draft picks to never realize their potential because the immediate needs of the NHL roster supersede the importance of the player’s development.

lots of sobotka hate

not his fault coach put him on the second line, and our second line has been pretty damn good

would love a stat nerd to tell me how his corsi numbers are after 3 games and compare it to sheary and skunk

thanks in advance

- homiedclown

the problem with sobotka is he is put in a position to succeed and is still failing miserably.

vesey/mittlestadt/sheary are the worst 3 for shot share, with sobotka 4th. The entire 3rd line has been underwhelming, but sobotka is a massive anchor on the 2nd line.

"the with or without you's" are staggering. johansson and skinner's numbers skyrocket when he's not on the ice with them.

Not sure why we need to re-invent the wheel for a team that has gotten 5 out of 6 points.

The only person in the lineup who I think sucks ins Scandella. But hopefully that changes when we get healthy D back

With Cozens, they may have no choice. He's not eligible for the AHL next year either. They will have to choose between keeping him here or sending him back down to a league where he appears to be too good for as it is already.

While The Fat One may have benefited from some time in the minors, he also hasn't looked completely out of place like Reinhart did during his 9 game tryout, or Grigorenko did years ago. I really don't think his timeline will be any different whether he takes his lumps here or plays in the minors. He was pretty much always an NHL talent. Whether that becomes fully recognized this year or next year wouldn't have changed much no matter where he plays. If he has "it", he will eventually figure it out.

people are dogging a 3rd line player who has played his 3rd game as a sabre

3rd game

he gets 17 goals a year, and this is his first week as a 3rd line winger with a young inconsistent center and has not allowed a 5 on 5 goal since he has been on the ice

but run him out of town because he did not get any points yet in 30 minutes of even strength ice time with casey

The sample size for WOWYs is very small.

Sobotka only has 4:20 TOI without both Johansson and Skinner and he's posting a 8% expected goals for percentage. 4 minutes and 20 seconds of him on the ice without very good linemates and the team has had virtually 0 chance to score.

Skinner/Johansson have only played 2:37 without sobokta and their xGF% is 84.5.

Both of those numbers are way too small sample size to draw any conclusions on their own, but combined with the preconceived notion and the eyetest of that being exactly what would happen, like hello, end this already.

put casey on the wing for the top 6 and insert e-rod

or flip sobotka with sheary or vesey

I still think sobotka is keeping the spot warm for a tage call up
