Its kind of a shame I don't think the line of Kreider Strome and Kakko is doing a great job. I was hoping they would take Strome out and put in Names and try him out there with the possible bringing up his value as well and I thought it would more compliment the line itself. Names can motivate others to play better with his hard-nose style of play.

Strome probably doesn't belong centering a 2nd line and Kakko is a rookie, regardless of the fact that he figures to be a very good player eventually.

I think the biggest reason that the Rangers have Strome playing with Kakko and Kreider is that he's right handed, while every other option is a lefty
Strome's actually been doing really well on faceoffs too
I just don't understand the trade from the Rangers perspective unless they thought Vlad would be worthless and they would get stuck with the contract. - mdw7413
I think the Rangers realized that they need a 2nd center short term and Stome isn't doing great on the 2nd line center position but did very well last year on the 3rd or 4 line. We need Keider and Kakko to have a quality center and that is my guess for the salary dump! If they do get another 2nd line center it will most likely be an upgrade short term a year or two.

ultimately they may need to choose between Howden and Andersson and deal one of them, IMO
Vince Mercogliano:
"Jeff Gorton confirmed that the Namestnikov trade was aimed at creating cap space and opportunity for younger players. Said they’d been working on something like this since the summer. He also confirmed they won’t call anyone up and will stick with 21-man roster for now. "

YES...Swans are mean AF. I also got attacked by one when I was like 3. Thing beat the poop out of me. Luckily my Grandmother came flying out of the house with a mop to save my life. - climbdenali12

Hearing that things are heating up on the Patrick Marleau front. And that the banged-up Sharks are among the teams who have reached out to his camp. Could potentially see a Marleau reunion in San Jose after all. A couple of other teams also in the mix.
