The #NHLJets have granted Dmitry Kulikov a personal leave from the team. As a result, he has been designated as a 'Non-Roster Player'.

During that time, he will not count against the clubs active 23-man roster, but his cap hit will continue to count against the clubs salary cap.

I agree with stick handling...but he makes some sweet passes. You don't give him enough credit with vision
- TPC

Maybe you give him too much credit

In all seriousness I think his speed, and being a wall infront of the goalie are his best attributes. He doesn't get the credit or on the score sheet for standing in front, but you could say a lot of goals he is directly responsible for.

I also seem to be missing how trading Vlad helps address the lack of production from the second line. Blaming Ryan Strome for his line not scoring is dumb as they have played all of two games. Chemistry requires time and patience, the NYR have none

I just don't understand the trade from the Rangers perspective unless they thought Vlad would be worthless and they would get stuck with the contract.

the biggest benefit to the Rangers is that if all their young guys hit their rookie bonuses it would be about 4 million added to next year's cap

now that they have this space, they can use it on this year's cap, which obviously is much better considering Shattys cap hit is 6 mil next year

Maybe there is another deal in the works or like mentioned they just want the space to allow for a possible deal.

Yeah from that perspective it makes sense. I just figured after they tried and couldn't move him in the summer, once they got below the cap they wouldn't make moves so soon

Like Jim says (and I've said recently) there will most certainly be at least some amount of bonuses to be counted against the cap this year and next. This gives us some breathing room.
I would add, that as much as I didn't mind Stinky, we have multiple others that can bring at least what he brought to the 3rd line. We all knew we had too many top nine forwards, now there's one less.

Interesting take considering Stinky didn't play on Strome's line.
I think I prefer Jess Greenberg.

I wonder if something happened to nyrangers9679 or if he just left the site

you would think he'd come here and comment on Namestiknov being traded

This could be a preemptive move... maybe if the Rangers are in a playoff position, they make a move at the deadline for someone.

Sens probably were the only team making an offer. What if Stinky did nothing this year to warrant any teams being interested at the TDL?
Take the 4th and run.

It's annoying the Rangers had to retain any salary.
