They are 2-0 have a crap load of young talent, not sure whats to complain about.

Because I read their comments for entertainment, they crap on the fact that Haley is going to get in the lineup at some point, and that Smith is playing forward. They manage to crap on Staal everyday too, which I mean we are kind of stuck with.

How they idolize but then misapply analytics is hilarious.

I would like to see Haley in the lineup. I figured he was AHL bound, but he was surprisingly good in the pre-season. He just has to learn not everyone wants to fight.

Is there really a significant contingent of Ranger fans that are upset about moving Namestnikov?
- eichiefs9

Oh yeah. They were going off about how incompetent the front office and Quinn are and how moving Stinky to the 2C spot would have fixed everything. How Lias is now going to be stuck centering Haley and McKegg for apparently the rest of his career.
Someone even posted video of Ziby's shorthanded goal, citing how no one will pass to him!!

I still don't get this. I am not blind to Staal's deficiencies ( ), but am I the only one who sees the good plays he makes each game? The only thing preventing him from being a typical 3rd pairing Dman is his salary. #not_his_fault

Bigger is always better, no matter the specifics. LiMnDa told me so.

I'm sort of with you on this. We all know he can't be what he was anymore. However, how can you really blame the team for paying him that money after a deep playoff run? At the time you had a young stud in McD, someone who just got nominated for a Norris is G, and a pretty steady hand in Staal. It was a no brainier to try to keep that locked up.

I think Staal has actually been a bit better so far, its only 2 games, then he was last year. He is usually good when he doesn't have to move his feet much, why he is decent on the PK.

until the young guys develop more, we are going to continue to see loads of Staal/Smith on penalty kills, just the way it is

Yeah, I have no issue with that. Gonna be ups and downs this whole season. As long as they play hard, I don't care what happens

Never had a major problem with re-signing both Girardi and/or Staal. It was the NMC's that should have never been given out. That was the downside of those contracts...

there is a contingent of Ranger fans who complain about absolutely everything
- jimbo83

Just to be clear: I never complained about the trade, I just found the timing of it curious and it seemed to raise more questions than it answered...

In retrospect, yes those hampered us. However it's sort of a cost of doing business. If you look at other teams, we actually got off pretty easily. Look at the albatross contracts the Kings/Hawks have for their success. Keeping guys often involves giving out money/term/nmc that you probably shouldn't give.

Maybe you could have gotten away with no clause with Staal, but with G just coming off a Norris nomination there was no realistic scenario where he wasn't getting it.

It (frank)ing sucked insulating it. There are parts where I had to drag myself along by the joists because the clearance was about 16" high.

whenever I think of Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, I think they sounded like Bruce Hornsby and the Range

which was fine for them, but bad for Pink Floyd
