Not really, he is ok, but nothing special or very good about him.
- Makita

I like him but I don’t think a playoff team can have Stecher, Tanev and Hughes. Our back end is too small and weak

Would it be possible to add Rathbone at 5'11" 190 on the left side with Hughes already here. Rathbone doesn't play small but is small.

Tanev really doesn’t play small or weak, he actually does pretty well along the boards and fighting for position in front of the net. Probably one of he best on the team at both actually.

But I agree that having two guys like Stecher/Hughes back there isn’t ideal, especially if you add in OJ as well next year, bigger teams will have their way if you have 1 of those guys on each pairing.

Agreed, you need some size. See STL.

People still making way too much of STL defence last season. The other team that made it to the finals had 3 guys under 6' on their D.

May not have won but got there. No matter the size, players need to rise to the occasion. Stecher has shown he is more than willing a lot of the time.

As you know the playoffs are a different animal. The Stechers, Quinns don't move players from in front of the net or come up with timely hits to keep the opposition honest.

I haven't seen gym (frank)ery in so long. There's a middle aged guy in my gym, every time I see him, He puts a single handle on the cable machine. Puts about 50 lbs on the weight stack, jumps up and then pretends to punch towards the ground. Well not pretends, he does but the weight is just too much for him.

talking about Mattheson hit on Pettersson. "The next time I would step on the ice with him, i would beat him up real bad and the rest of the league would see that and wouldnt touch Pettersson again"

As I said the other team was Boston had 2- 5'9" defenders. They beat Carolina who had 6 feet and over defenders and Toronto AND Columbus with all their 6' and taller defenders.

Then they lost by a single game to a team with all 6' tall defenders.

Team of midget defenders not going to happen but as I said, if your defenders are going to rise to the occasion, i'm sure it's not anything to be concerned about.

Sweet ... we swapped grinders on our top 2 lines. That should help scoring

Call me crazy but I still don't see the logic in scratching Gaudette game 1. Guy with the most momentum scoring wise in the pre-season ... excitement of the start of regular season and you reward the guy by making him watch. Is/was he going to solve all scoring woes ... no. But sports are streaky and to end a streak in a press box so you could dress your 8th grinding forward seems ridiculous.

PP1 in zone setup has Pettersson and Boeser at the tops of the circles. Bo bumper. Miller net front. Edler point. #Canucks

More
PP2 in zone setup has Hughes at the point. Gaudette left circle. Myers right circle. Leivo bumper. Pearson net front. #Canucks
--------------------------

These don't make much sense to me. Unless they plan to just pass the puck around the outside and not through any lanes.

- manvanfan

Horvat needs to be net front thats for sure. WTF... one of the better guys in the league for that. Lets take him off it. Newel Brown stain is the same idiot he always was. Sedins convinced people including himself that he was a PP coach.
