You think that Rielly is struggling? - PatC80
He’s not doing as well as he did with Hainsey. What does that tell you? |

Well seeing the practice lines, looks like no Marincrap, Timmmaaaay, or Shore.
Spezza, Petan, and Holl drawing back in.
Thinking should be better there. Have to agree Timashov has been almost non existent out there and think they just are trying to give him a shot and or not lose him for nothing on waivers sending him down. Shore hasn't really impressed too much either for that matter. And Marincrap is well... exactly what we know him to be.
Should be a good game and challenge tonight. Time to see how they bounce back after losing to Montreal there. |

Totally fair, but whats funny is that price wasnt price or hasnt been Prices-esq for a the last few years. Hes been marginally good at best during long stretches, and narratives aside the first 50 games of the year last year, price maybe won 4-5 of them on his own, the rest....the last 30 games, he played stellar, but no better then say anderson! Habs fans will somewhat agree that it is the price show, but not like it once was, and the years of feeling fully confident that hell win us a game, game in and game out are long gone. TSN, Sportnets leafs homer networks will have everyone believe that its the price show, but.... he hasnt even been in the running for the vezina in the last little while, and we only missed the playoffs by 3 points.
the habs also chnaged style over the last 3 seasons since Julien has been back. Its an onslaught of speed and pressure, 4 lines of it. Its made it far from the days of price having to face 40+ shots a game. in fact i think the habs have some of the stingiest shot against then most teams vs shots for. anyways, who knows. sports are a fickled (frank) to predict. Look at tampa. So many people lost evertyhing on almost a sure fire cup victory. - munky123
For sure. Let me say that while Price has not been Price, he is still considered one of the top-3 goalies in the league when players, coaches, and general manages are polled anonymously. Again, that confidence allows a team to take chances. I hear what you're saying about the shots
Similar to the Canes, when you play an up tempo game with an aggressive forecheck (and you do it well) with the speed to compensate for the odd-man transition against, you will likely reduce your shots against. Last year the Habs gave up the 14th most shots (so marginally above average), but they generated more shots than any other team. Their team shooting percentage was 13th. If they had some elite finishers, that style would be more beneficial.
Again, as a comparative measure, the Canes were 3rd in Shots for, 6th in Shots against, and had a dismal shooting percentage that was 28th in the league.

That the season is 3 games old? He also has 5 points in 3 games. He's on pace for 137 points.
The team is going to take some time to gel. |

Yup. They're a hard working team.
Fun fact, 100% of their goals so far came from the crease. You'll see plenty of guys crashing the net and getting those rebounds.
And let's be fair, Leafs dominated the first two periods outrageously. Did they get tired at the end of back to back games? Maybe. - Scabeh
Horrible bounce, pretty damn questionable penalty, absolutely stupid play, mediocre at best goaltending, penalty in OT, and Price saving your ass, again... but you eke'd out a SO victory.
It was a tough one to watch as a Leafs fan. Pretty much everything that could go wrong, did.

When Price is on, he is the best in the game.
When Price is not on, or the Habs play their backup, they are not a playoff team. |

nice job on getting the stats! i wonder if you quantify all those 3 stats together, wther they'd even out and show the teams are on par with each other.
The price effect is real, but i dont think it holds as much weight as it once did. I called TSN and Sportnets leafs homers, because by and large they are all mostly toronto boys and the price show is always the narrative they use. its price. price, more price. its lazy and tbh poor sports journalism. I mean why is jeff oneil allowed to say anything, he should stick to leafs lunch haha. He adds nothing to the content on the national level except a homer pov. Dreger, is the limit. been a slice chatting with you b. |

truth, but when Anderson is not on, and the game has no penalties the leafs are not a playoff team.
when mcdavid goes down, the oilers are last
when crosby is injured the pens can struggle
the habs had a maginal price all year, worst pp and missed by 3 points... not as dire as you say. |
