He's been tried there several times. Why he keeps getting bounced in and out of that position, I have no idea. I say, play him there until you can say, definitively, that he belongs there or he doesn't.

One of my favorite players.

First PP breakout and retrieval’s were a disaster. Schultz, Geno, and Letang not sharp enough. First quality chances are Blueger getting a loose puck in the corner and setting up ZAR in the slot. Blueger also flips one off the crossbar

I said it last year: watch ZAR shoot especially 1T’s, he shoots it into the goalies pads all the time

I must say watching Tanevs speed and hustle is a little refreshing. If the guy had real good hands and shot he'd be an absolute power house.

Do you guys remember the initial Tanev blog? One key moment I remember was RW flaming management for “ghostly” interest in him as if nobody else wanted him. Between last game and this period I bet I’ve heard it 5 times about how sought after he was and how many teams wanted him

He is honestly our worst defensemen right now. He’s turning it over, he’s whiffing on pucks. He’s not adding anything except by being a placeholder while the Crosby line runs show. It’s disappointing

I think it's the same 1 or 2 on the broadcast who are saying it, though. Who knows what the truth is. There probably was other interest, maybe a lot, but not at $3.5M x 6.

In that thread I posted some tweets and articles from actual NHL reporters about the interest in Tanev

GMJR said there was a lot of competition. Could he be lying? Sure, but that’s not his MO. He has a history of being overly open and honest with the media. Knowing that who would I believe more: an informed GM or a blogger who doesn’t even follow his own teams prospects and has zero sources?
