I think/Hope Benning is considering the expansion draft and has very few players under contract, that neèd protecting.
Right now, Tanev is the perfect defenseman, for sheltering Hughes.

JB is pining to sigh Tryamkin to get him in if Tanev's injured again or asking price is too high. But they do like Tanev when healthy and for mentoring QH. They did resign Edler last minute maybe Tanev goes down the same. Don't expect a trade.

He has been a big disappointment . If he was doing good and when Roussel returned we would not be talking third line.

i'd have zero qualms trading tanev if they get real value. an opinion i've had for several seasons.

he's a diminishing asset (almost completely diminished).

while, he is a good partner for hughes this year, i'm not of the opinion that he's crucial to hughes' development. you can shelter hughes through usage and through other vet partners.

tanev is good but he's not reliable for 82 games and you could probably get a decent return. this all dependent on how the first 30-40 games though but just like we've said for the last few years, he could be a great asset to trade at the tdl.
