Seems like all the home teams winning season openers. Plus playing more offense aggressive type hockey. Green take note. |

It's game one.
The best player in the world scored on a bad play. Sutter had other good plays in the night. I won't say much.
Things will change . I just don't expect it all to happen after game one. Right now Green trusts Sutter more than Gaudette and I am sure that will change at some point.
I bet when Motte returns Jake or Loudini will sit. - VANTEL
Game 1, I get it.
Even if they choose to keep Sutter in the middle, they need to get LE off that line and add offense. LE there is bullpoop. He's can PK and grind it out on the 4rth. Plunk Sven there and send LE down even. There are plenty of PK options. They sucked at keeping goals out of the net leading up this season... so may as well try and score if that is inevitable?
I'm sure changes are coming after a loss but I'm not being patient with Green this season after seeing old being called new. Newel Brown can suck a bag of Richards as well.

I am pretty sure I know some changes need to be made on the bottom 6 , and the good news it is the bottom 6 everyone is upset with. We finally have a top 6 and decent D. - VANTEL
Yes but people love complaining so bottom 6 it is lol. |

I think that stat about the Canucks bottom 6 getting outscored by double last year is still in the back of everyone's minds, and the fact that Green is rolling out a very similar looking bottom 6 again is exactly why people are annoyed because we've already seen how this bottom 6 does in the past. Plus as you pointed out, now they don't even have Roussel who was one of the few bright spots in the bottom 6 last year so we really know it's gonna suck.
Expecting things to change with the same group minus one of it's better players is insanity(by definition lol). It's not like there's fresh faces in the bottom 6 who need time to adjust to the system/team so the game 1 thing doesn't matter much, they are who they are, we've already seen it play out over a large sample size and they got destroyed by opponents last year.
So until TG stops being stubborn, people will complain, and I don't blame them because it's sucking the fun out of having an upgraded top 6 and back end since this bottom 6 is a proven liability. |

Just ballparking, but that looks like almost 25% of an $80m salary cap for guys who contribute very little to the bottom line. |

Better d should help but I get what your saying, sutter wasn't there really, he had core problems and it threw a wrench into everything with AHL depth, beagle was hurt long term to. |

What to do with Jake? He's responded in the past when seriously challenged by coaches and Green did it early enough in camp. There was actually a flicker... he had his big game in Calgary but what motivated him? He seems to like it there. Life was good back in the Hitman days. Line stepping with his little cowgirl harems and all. Used his size on the ice against other teens. The good ol days.
Maybe it's over in Van. Perhaps he felt he deserved better after that first preseason game but he has looked worse every game since so if he is fighting mentally and giving up... he really does need a fresh start. If Motte wasnt injured, I imagine JV would be scratched. He had team low minutes. I don't blame the decision. He was standing still with players and puck all around him a number of times in the 1st.
I could see him later getting scratched enough to get himself a reconditioning stint in the A eventually. That may help even. |

Beagle out twice long term.... or was that Sutter? Beagle broke his arm and then something else I think. Our injury report looked like a casualty list after a battle.

Green must think because of the early injuries that group didn't have enough time. He will give them more opportunities even though us fans dislike it.
The Gaudette factor is really one he has to get comfortable on deploying. That this kid is really improved and more ready from last season. |

I agree. He kept Boeser out his first 2 games and WD started Bo on the 4rth for one game only. Coaches are almost as weird as goalies sometimes.

Green had LE as the scratch until Motte turned into an IR. Before giving up on JV lets see him play with a skilled center like Gaudette. Maybe he can show up on the score sheet more often then just trying to do on his own from a turnover or rush. |

Bottom line is Jake isn’t working hard and isn’t helping the team. I want to see the kid parked in the press box for 2 weeks at a minimum. |

It's good but, my favourite is the one Geoff Courtnall's teammates called him.
7/11 because he was "always open" ( or at least that's what he kept yelling) |

And of course an improved oilers defensive play under tippet
Like Carol mentioned in the last blog tippet has made an immediate improvement to every team he's coached - SMBDragon
Every team Tippet has taken over have made the playoffs that year. Expecting the same in EDM but Holland will need to find Tippet some help on D now that Larsson is out for 6 weeks after the Hughes shot block lol |

He has been a big disappointment . If he was doing good and when Roussel returned we would not be talking third line. |
