It dodges their narratives the last month about leaving Gaudette in the AHL and the must waive of Sven campaign. It dodges the narrative about keeping pucks out of the net by not waiving LE.
Of course in Aug they wanted LE gone... Sutter on the 4rth and Gaudette in the A.

That current 3rd line is about as awkward as it gets so pretty much any half-decent alternative will look better on paper. LE and Sutter have played together enough over the years, at this we know that they suck together, only time they looked decent was when Dorsett was playing with them and lighting it up during that 10-15 game stretch a couple of years ago, and back then Sutter was faster. Now he and both LE look slower than ever and Leivo isn't the fastest or most physical either. None of them are good at carrying the puck through the neutral zone and gaining the zone with possession.
Basically it's a slow and soft 3rd line, the worst of both worlds. At least a Baertschi - Gaudette - Sutter/Virtanen line would bring more skill and speed to the table. - Nucker101
It's quite plausible that LE has been holding sutter back the last few years.
I like the sound of that Sven gauds Jake line.

I keep putting him there and after auto save and me changing page, he's back there... - boonerbuck
you should be able to put him on IR+ right away. After pick up a player... Same as moving a player from the bench to lineup.
The changes won't show up till the next day. |

Beagle might even be better for 3C than Sutter. Will be less goals against and just as solid on the dot. Can't be any worse for production.

Petey's line was OK...
Bo's Line was better
Sutter's line sucked.
Beagles line did their job.
TM and Edler were good on the PP, ok defensively.
Tanev and QH were very good.
Benn and Stetcher were solid enough. Benn at times looked confused but no harm.
Markstrom was good enough to win. Solid.
PP#1 was less effective than #2. Myers and Edler putting pucks on net was the difference. EP and Brock were off target too much.
Green looked like he dropped the ball. The 3rd line which was nothing more than lasts years failure was deployed and the results were pretty much the same as last season.
Gaudette almost outplayed that 3rd line from the box.
Svens feeling are hurt. Jordan Subban was probably texting him. |

And of course an improved oilers defensive play under tippet
Like Carol mentioned in the last blog tippet has made an immediate improvement to every team he's coached |

I agree, I thought Beagle was pretty solid last year. Would rather him move up and they find someone else to take 4th line duties.
A 4th line of Baertschi/Leivo Gaudette Virtanen would be interesting.
Let Eriksson Beagle Sutter/Motte take all the hard minutes. |
