Its pretty absurd. Hughes can wait 20 games for (frank)sakes - CanuckDon
Why though? Aren't playoffs the goal? |

Because I think edler is a better option at the moment. Hughes didn’t exactly impress in preseason. He will take over the rains when he earns it. Seems fair to me 🤷♂️ |

Edler is terrible at passing the puck to Brock for one timers which is a huge part of the PP. Anyone who has played ice hockey can see it, there's so many times when Brock is perfectly set up for a one timer and Edler throws him off with a pass that forces Brock to stop the puck or try to shoot the one timer off balance. |

Edler killed it in preseason. Hughes did not. Edler has the proven track record. Hughes does not. Seems fair to me. Hughes being on PP1 without earning it would be a travesty |

Fair enough.
Seems like a safe/conservative way to coach a team which is fine, and won't hurt anyone, except potentially some early season goals if Hughes does end up showing that he was the superior fit for PP1 all along.
Now please explain LE on the 3rd line. |

LE is in line 3 as he is decent on the PK (and they want him in the lineup) and he won’t produce on line 4. They obviously hope that he can produce a bit and maybe trade him. I don’t agree with it but I understand. I hate Loui just like everyone else 🤮 |

If Sven just cleared waivers, how the hell will they trade LE?
It can't just be about the PK because Green has used Schaller and Motte on the PK before and both outplayed LE this pre-season.
The majority of the game is played on 5v5 where LE is invisible and useless on most nights.
It's not understandable at all. |

I seem to remember the fancy stats outlining that Loui was their best PKer? Obviously they would still have to take on a bad contract to move him. Stop trying to get me to defend Loui. If it was up to me he would be in Utica. I just understand how useless Sven is outside of the PP and top 6 |

Top 6 is an old man dinosaur concept. It's now top 9 and bottom 3. Look at most of the playoffs teams last year, they had a top 9 that produced offense.
LE's production could be replaced by a lot of players who will actually be noticeable out on the ice if given the same minutes that he was last year, instead of scoring random goals after being invisible all game. |

I think that before game 20 Hughes is PP 1. I know we all want to watch our shiny new pp toy but let him get his confidence on PP2 and he will be our guy on PP1 in no time. A lot of power play is confidence in walking the line feeding the one timer etc and having Myers to shelter him a bit is a good idea at least to start. |

Yeah, I can live with the decision to start, I just hope changes are made if Hughes shows that he can be the better PP QB.
Also think the 2nd unit would've benefited from having a Gaudette, Sven or Goldy on it. |

Again, I hate Loui. I don’t want him on the team. We don’t have the horses to produce offence on the bottom 6. It is what it is. Things are a bit brighter when Roussel returns |

I'll take this lineup, over whatever Green plans to run tonight:
Ferland - Petersson - Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Miller
Beartschi - Gaudette - Leivo
Virtanen - Beagle - Sutter
With the 2nd and 4th lines getting some harder minutes against McJesus/Drai and the 1st and 3rd line minutes getting fed more o-zone starts and playing away from McJesus/Drai.
And if you're really worried about the PK and don't want Virtanen on it, then swap out Leivo and move up Jake to 3RW and put Motte on the 4LW
You can say you disagree, but I don't have to believe you |

I’d prefer this lineup as well. The 3rd line would likely get pumped but at least we would be more entertained |

You can also move Sutter up to 3RW and have him babysit for Gaudette if needed, but I like the look of that 4th line to use against other top 6 lines.
To add a counter to your point about understanding LE in the lineup, I'd argue there's a higher chance he'd go back home to Sweden after riding the buses for a full year in Utica than there is a chance of finding someone to take him off of our hands for 2 more years after this one. |

It’s worth a shot trying sutter on the wing. He can still take face offs for gaudette 👌 |

Loui is a black hole. Gaudette and Sven at least showed a glimpse of chemistry and hope. More than wussy magnet has done in 3 years. |
