i get why they would want to limit hughes a bit but not having him on pp1 just seems wrong.

hopefully, he gets moved up quickly and this is just another situation like bb getting scratched the first couple games of his career.

They obviously aren't stupid men, but it's possible that they are out of their element in their positions at the NHL level. Look at WD, the guy has been a coach for a long time, yet he deployed a 1-2-3-4 line strategy with no line matching and playing his bottom 6 too many 5v5 minutes. The Kings literally hired him as their tank commander because he was that rare combination of respected, but not good


He's probably a decent AHL/WHL coach, but his mentality just wasn't cut out for the NHL.

He stubbornly play that Sbieska disaster pairing 20 minutes per night in that series. I think I read somewhere they they were on the ice for at least half of the Flames goals. The same amount as the other 2 pairings combined, including one featuring Yannick Weber
