Their stars put up points when Vans didn't. Petey has to be better.

Kassian was his man on the second goal too

He tossed the stick aside ...you have to throw the stick at the puck carrier ...that’s not a penalty
- Redmile247

Regardless of the throw holding the stick is itself a 2 min isn't it?

i think other GMs (if they did make offers) would have perceived him as a cap dump and probably offered virtually nothing or a "less bad" contract in exchange.

jb didn't need/want to give up an "asset" for cap space he could get through other moves. he's banking on squeezing value out of sutter through this season.

i'd rather have just moved him for nothing but i can see why jb is holding onto him even if i don't agree with it. they've held onto vets too long thinking they could move them in-season or that they actually needed them on the roster.

I agree with this.

Those are oil boom prices. Didn't they get the memo that oil is dead?

Net was crashed and there was contact both ways ...could easily look like the stick got tangled and smith with his bad temper didn’t like the contact and tossed the stick ... I have no problem with the play

I really don't think it was a game altering play, nor am I super hung up on it, but there should have been a penalty imo.

Kids looked good, the grownups were as expected. Hard to imagine how a guy can explode from the blue line in like that. 97 is pretty darn good!

Word of advice, don’t listen to anyone’s grumblings on here. Most seem to have a skewed view of what they were watching unfold. They have players they dislike and will do/say whatever to prove their point, al a Trump style.

Last nights best players were Smith and Draisaitl, yes Smith grabbed a stick and threw it, BFD, a little adversity...deal with it.

Hughes is going to be a gem for you guys, thought he looked great all game considering how young of a D-man he is.

i thought that the first line was just out of sync. BB's late signing and having a new player on the line, it's understandable. i'd give it time.

i thought the second line played well. i liked miller's play.

myers had a strong game as did edler. i thought the d was pretty good to good overall. hughes is looking good but we'll have to put up with some defensive deficiencies but that's just growing pains for a young offensive d.

the bottom 6 looks like we thought: a mish mash of odds and ends.

bottom line: give it about 10 games to see what the team really has.

- RealityChecker

Oh for sure. I only caught the first two periods basically fell asleep at the 2nd intermission lol.

Gonna take time for the new faces to find chemistry for sure.

Bottom 6 is what it is.

It truly is crazy those prices tho. Was in ANA for a game in March and $16 USD for a 12oz craft beer lol. Was even more expensive at the Lakers game in LA. cost me and the GF $56 USD for two brisket sandwiches and two beers

I'm begging to think you might be right about Green. I wanted to wait until he had an actual NHL roster to work with, but his reasons for keeping Gaudette out were:

Sutter has more experience

Gaudette hasn't played on the wing since high school

Neither of these things are going to change, until they do. Sutter looked mighty bad on the game winner last night.

Holy fawk Vantel.

Do you honestly think that other GMs can be so easily fooled? Sutter is garbage just like LE, Goldy, Baer, etc, etc.

My bigger issue is that he spent the entire preseason evaluating Gaudette, didn’t try him on the wing that I can recall and the whole team didn’t play a single preseason game together.
