That's all they got besides mcdavid but those 2 can win games if the goalie plays great and that's what happened tonight. Should have been holding the stick ref right there and seen it.

Drai will be worn down by Christmas playing those minutes, also a higher chance of a muscle-related injury

Top line was neutered outside of some EP magic. Both Brock and Ferland had off nights but Ferland was in front with Sutter for the Edler shot, no?

Was that the first game those 3 played together, with ferland sick and brock a holdout and concussion?

Yes, hopefully they'll figure it out together. Otherwise we might see one of the waiver boys called back up

Really? They were on for the first goal against and made a terrible line change causing the 2nd goal against. The 5 man units are a joke - Edler/Myers don’t play a compatible game with Pettersson’s line and Hughes/Tanev aren’t optimally compatible with Bo’s line. Switch that around FFS. & the PP design is (frank)ing awful. So basic & boring. We have the pieces to have productive special teams, but the systems to minimize those pieces. Gross.

Agree with everything after critique of Bo's line. The 1st goal was more on Marky, who besides that had an excellent game. Line change mishap is on bench boss.

Were Schaller and LE both used on the PK? I hope so otherwise the lineup makes no sense.
- Nucker101

Yeah they were but not impressed. Gaudette and JV could do better and be dangerous to steal and break up ice.

Green is doing AV impressions. His bottom 6. His last preseason game still playing way down the depth charts rather than figuring out the not so obvious lines for opening night. Now I wait for the standard comment that its still audition time for everyone because of all the new bodies. We saw some bottom 6 chemistry but they all got broke up after auditions.

Hughes was quickly pushing the envelope tonight. Can't wait to see what he does with full confidence. The only player thinking as fast as Petey. QH will end up on PP 1 soon I think. A PP opportunity will pop up right after a PK and QH will stick.

They need to find a trade for JV timed when A.R comes back. Needs a new chance with fewer expectations and he may salvage his career. JB has a couple of months.

I thought the D overall was decent. I'm not sure Ferland is a full time 1st liner for EP. I never was. PP with him absolutely. I think any line with Miller on it improves instantly. That was what the past stats said all along anyways. He looks great with Horvat but it would be lights out with EP I think.

Smith reminds me so much of Hasek. Refs always watching the antics and letting him get away with it. What the (frank) was that. He's standing right there and shrugs it off. Turned into a goal. Useless.

Yes to all though Ferland needs more time with Petey. Plus wouldn't you rather see JV work out a role with Gaudette and Leivo on a line? Young guys that could gel together for effective 2 way play.

New bottom six deployment needed. When Roussel is back (hope soon) make 2 new lines the order 3/4 is irrelevant.

Some good and bad last night. There was no in your face player. Canucks do still have some house cleaning to do. I think after another game or two they will make some adjustments.

I'd like to see them sub in Gaudette and move Sutter to the wing on that 4th line.
Leivo - Gaudette - Virtanen
Eriksson - Beagle - Sutter
Schaller can fawk right off - Loui can join him

I think they will keep Sutter where he is and try to raise his value. I think Jake and Sutter will both have new addresses this year but Benning is trying not to sell low.

This is what I would like for this year if Sutter stays.

Pearson had 11 shots on net last night That line dominated possession... just need to finish.

I was pleasantly surprised by Myers' game last night too. I didn't watch a lot of Winnipeg games and assumed, based on the grumbling about that signing, he was another Gudbranson.

It was reported last week that they turned down offers that were too low for Sutter.
