Well, I won't blame you for trolling your division rivals - MaximumBone
they're only rivals if they're good, which they aren't. |

I don't, really, I'm mostly just irrationally going after the Flyers here.
I will say that in 12 years he's only hit the 30 goal mark once, and given his age there's a decent chance he finishes his career with less than 300 goals scored.
That said, he's still a more than fine player. - BINGO!
Pretty sure hes like 5th in scoring this decade but you know. Not enough goals!!!!
Jumbo Joe has only reached 30 goals twice |

Just going to throw this out there. One of these bloggers picked the St. Louis Blues to win the Cup last year as his preseason pick. Guess which one. - Hunkulese
Wow, props to you James Tanner. |

Muzzin is really underrated, he's incredible. 40 points, 13th in 5v5 scoring, elite defense and the best possession driver in the league. When not with Zaitsev he was 57%.
Anyways, while Jones may one day be better at this point, Rielly for sure, and probably Muzzin are superior to him. Leafs better top three than Columbus for sure.
Probably not better than San Jose though because the top two is insane, but Vlassic is way, way worse than Barrie. A very big drop off there. - James_Tanner
Muzzin might be superior to Seth Jones?
Ok then. |

You're better than that, Bingo.
Slavin is unbelievable. Hamilton is prone to making poor choices and Gardiner is a turnover machine. He really just can't help himself. It's really quite amazing. |

Not on this thread.
Gardiner is amazing, Hamilton is probably some sort of corsi god and Slavin is average. |

Well damn. Nice job Tanner. The guy that gets all the flack actually predicted the Blues winning it last year. |

Sure, but Hamilton is a goddamn corsi god and has repeatedly been called one of the top 5 defensemen in the NHL by Tanner, so you'd think he'd be really high on him still.
He was also very high on Gardiner as a Leaf, so I'm curious how that's changed. |

I know people hate it when reality makes them rethink reputation based guessing but what can you do? - James_Tanner
Not weighing in on the debate but rather the use of stats to support or refute a point of view. These stats in isolation are close to meaningless. They need to be paired with other key stats such as Zone Starts and Quality of Competition. If a d-man is played in a sheltered 3rd pairing role against other teams' 3rd and 4th lines and with a majority of starts in the O-zone vs. D-zone, their Corsi-type stats are going to look that much better and misrepresent the true abilities of the player.
Not being critical, just trying to help everyone make meaningful use of the data that's available. |
